Tyrion, shoot me your addy so I can forward on the he 1.2b. My impressions were pretty similar to Marc, but even when listening with the BH, the 1.2b still lagged behind the HE60 (my bias) and the Koss (which I did not care for before), in speed, imaging, and darn near every aspect. The good news is that I liked it better than the OII, which means my observations from meet to meet are so random as to be worthless. I will say my next purchase will be a Koss 950, not a HE. But the build quality, especially the (bamboo?) earcup holders would keep me awake at night waiting for them to pop apart with the most minor drop or ding. I simply could not buy a pair for that reason alone, and the sound simply could not overcome that. Disclaimer: My musical 'taste' ranges from Radiohead to Tool to Drowning Pool to Alison Krause to Hoobastank. Not much range, but I know what I like, and, for what I listen to, I didn't like these very much, and the OII not at all. Probably says more about me than anything.

Group buy - heck, I was willing to drop $2k on Lundahl iron on the Raven-like project... more about all that in Houston.
-
I would like the HE 1.2b for myself and luvdunhill to try at the Houston meet with my BH and his KGSS, well, if he can get it reassembled... SWT61 will be there as well. That is on Oct 25th, if that can work out... maybe logistically to luvdunhill since he has my BH currently.
-
Pair the HE60 with a properly tubed BH, and, (as Marc points out) with an oversampling wiz, like say, and Azur 840c, and it is game on... even if it is a bit 'showy'. But, Marc's ain't no ordinary KGSS either.
-
Yeah... back from the dead, more like unshrouded. Now, where were we with the Marc / Spritzer BH? You could make all this KGSS silliness go away... well, or publish your KGSS recipe... ;-) Ordering parts for a balanced Bijou... no west for the ricked.

And never to be one to disappoint Nate, try http://home.swbell.net/pabbi/kgss-fabfiles.zip as one of the 'designs'. He did get one working, using this http://home.swbell.net/pabbi/kgss_parts.xls BOM... sort of, with the old Headwize PSU, I think... he had a web site at UT Dallas, which is long gone.

That is not the issue, and you know it. The germaine question is - where is the line? And why this, and not something else? As a former theology student, there are many far more disturbing avenues to question aspects of religiosity, above the irony of the lack of world peace in a consumeristic marketecture driven by gluttonous expenditures to celebrate the Christ Child, when the same expenditures might well bring some levels of world peace. For once, this is about what is, or isn't acceptable here - and, did that change with ALL the 'new' mods? Maybe we can revisit this again on Good Friday, or Easter Sunday (a special sunrise posting event), but, really, is this the line? Was there a mod meeting to discuss, or just closing ranks, a la? I am a mod too on a sports board that is commercial, and under a lot of legal restrictions regarding TOS, so I am also familiar how the various games are played. Just curious where this one is heading.

Just seemed a REALLY arbitrary and capricious case where a line was drawn, and who was having their gore oxed. And, we have MANY a 14 year old thread here ('Do it in my butt' comes to mind, or the endless 'Your Mother' references), so the sanctimoneous sermon was a bit, well, seasonal. The ship has long ago sailed about being post adolesent, eh? Head-case strives to be different - that was a thread where it became like the place it strives not to be like, if even for a moment. The board looked in the mirror, and saw Jude laughing back.
-
I'll wear it proudly this time - everyone gets a turn, I guess.
-
Pity the 'World Peace' thread was locked - seems to me I have read far worse in many threads. Maybe just the tequila talking, but seems rather Jude-like to me... oh, wait, at least it wasn't deleted. Guess things change everywhere. Happy fucking New Year.

Canada to US never seems to be a problem, but... going the other way, Canada Post seems to take for freaking ever. Oh, and a return by UPS over their bogus fees? Weeks / months - my longest _actual_ was 11 weeks. If Canadian customs would ever remember we have a trade treaty regarding audio gear (3% going that way, I think), life would be a LOT smoother. Oh, and mother fucker UPS trying to make exponential fees off this does NOT help. Never shipping to Canada again - too many repeated bad experiences, even when done absolutely properly. I will also avoid Canadian incoming as well, just because the combination of CP / USPS is so freaking random, aqnd always on the slow side. Never a single 'Wow, that was quick' experience regarding those two.

"Software Quality Professional", vol 10, Dec 2007, "Lessons from Experience: Managing Software Test Teams" - really great stuff for what I do.

Didn't narrow it down for me - though Grawk makes me laugh the most, starting with his avatar.

I went Rabbit, GTI(1), GTI(2), Corrado, Passat and would have gone Tourareg except for my Acura RDX, which reminds me of the GTI with the Corrado's power. If only they had kept the Corrado with the V6, I'd still be there. I looked (briefly) at the W10, but at $80k+ it just didn't line up.

Yeah, this is after both carpal and ulnar release surgery this summer, which made no difference in my hands. Since I make a living typing, it is really inconvenient, though speech recognition software can help with this. Software won't help with buttoning shirts, working zippers, or handling things like a glass / keys / soap - all funny, until it beats ypou down on a daily basis. Very frustrating, not to mention hobbies that are totally put aside. Oh, or that magical moment at a Christmas party where a woman pulls up her shirt and says 'Feel 'em - they're real' - but, alas, no sensory observations at all with the lobstar claws... <sigh>. I have an excellent neurologist, and have two different neurosurgeons to talk with next week. As the numbness creeps past my wrists toward the elbows, the pain starts in my lower back, and the left leg cramps to the point of not being able to stand, surgery seems less daunting. The wildest part is leaning my head back to finish off a drink, and feel the stingers shooting down my spine - really spectacular if you've never experienced it. Oh, bought a replacement remote for the Azur 840c, and a matching nightstand for the guest bedroom. Purchasing interrupted temporarily as all my CC were magnetized by the MRI, because the crappy locker to store my stuff wouldn't lock properly. Upcoming new car for wife: volkswagen tiguan

Apparently, I have 'repurchased' my Lambda Nova - developed a 'tick' after being shipped. <sigh> Oh, and I bought a MRI scan yesterday that indicates how herniated the disc is in my neck (the 7cm opening is now 4.5cm), causing the numbness in my hands. Looks like I'll be buying a happy ending session from a neurosurgeon in a couple of weeks.

x3 While I usually don't buy amps, this looks to be an exception. Damn it, damn it, damn it.

How has your rig changed in 2007? And do you have any future plans?

Electrostatic: started with Eastsound E5 -> BH (xf3) -> HE60, then added a ZapFilter to the E5, and had a pair of Lamnda Signatures roll through. Sac'd the E5 / Lambdas for an Azure 840c to end the year Azur 840c -> BH (xf2) -> HE60. Dynamic: Had a zero base, and added DVD (transport) -> OPUS DAC -> MillettMax (x2 - balanced) -> Denon d2000. The Denon's won't do, so I'm waiting for Alex to balance some RP-21 (no guts no glory), but a balanced HD600 ain't far away. Oh, and IFF Senn introduces a new flagship, it will be acquired. If not, OIIv2. -
Mark is an outstanding individual, and has acquired and liquidated quite a bit of Stax gear recently, so he should be pretty accurate in what he is asking $$$ wise. I would wager this is pretty well in the range for what he has actually paid for all this within the past year. Negotiation is always part of the deal, but I believe this to be market, not fire sale or disposition at all costs pricing. I do also agree with your valuation breakdown, as that is more or less what I would pay for each, were I in the market for those pieces.

Such a deep topic - but, for tragic and principled reasons, I see no other members of my, nor my wife's family at Christmas, except our daughter, now 23. And, with her behavior this year, I am feeling Feliz Navidad next year will be somewhere like Cabo San Lucas or somewhere on the other side of the globe. Though both families are <10 miles away, it may as well be the other side of the world. Merry Christmas, indeed...
