I came across to a Quad 77 classify asking 900€~1200$, being in my budget range I'm curious about them but unfortunately its a 3:30 hours drive. He says it was fully restored and have new units. I would like to know what kind of precautions this speaker need and how long they take without a repair. Also is the sound worth compared with more recent stuff at the same price range. And last how do they sound if any one heard them.

Would be odd if you didn't given the different price range and the Justin factor . Mine uses AD8610s with σ11, do you recall what were the flaws you most noticed compared to the gs-x ?

I'm considering to try one the next month, any of you heard it from an M^3 ?

Yeah unplugging the dac for a few minutes was the only way I found to stop the wild blinking for a few minutes to give me time to deactivate the upscaling. I tried with coax input and it did the same.

Those pics were taken before this problem but it probably looks the same. I'm gonna try contact the older importer of northstar in Portugal but I already predict some ridiculous number for the service for what could be a simple fix.

This is correct, it worked without any problem until now. btw it's the MKI. p.s- I forgot to mention that before this clicking the upscaling button sometimes it would take about 3 cliks to really deactivate it, it would turn the upscaling light off and turn on again.

I'm not sure if this is the right place but I guess DIYers should understand better whats going on inside the DAC. Basically the Northstar doesn't lock with the upscaling activated and just blinks wildly, If I turn off the upscaling before it starts blinking it will play without a problem but if I let a few minutes with it on, it goes wild and won't let me deactivate the upscaling. When this happens if I connect any transport it immediately does that even without music. Any idea what this could be and if it can be fixed ?

My jh16 arrived and what JHaudio did was to make the tubes really thin and put the comply tip on it, I will take some photos later. I can't tell you how they sound because jhaudio forgot to include the cable.. I was hoping I could listen to them before chistmas oh well..

Sonically ? When I see people referring to the northstar they usually omit the model which led me to think they were pretty much the same.

Mmm interesting he though it was pretty much the same even tough he sticked to the parasound. Mine is the mkI pretty much the same I think, do you recall specificly what you liked more ?

I'm thinking in buying the 1100 but I'm not entirely sure since I have a northstar. Having it for a few months now I'm starting to think its a bit to dry. Those who listened to both Northstar and the 1100 can tell if its worth the differences ?

Some sort of an hybrid, it will be a custom generic a soft comply tip but made off my impressions. Customer services is definably improved, this noy guy is really very responsive.
