Yeah it's very simple to do to, just one screw holds the hd caddy in place and then 4 screws secure the hd in the caddy. Mini-guide here
-
You can always just get the 40gig version and buy a bigger hd to install yourself later. It's very easy to do.

a/c was out at work so i spent most of the day roasting like a chicken in my office

On Friday June 13th we'll be migrating the forum over to new forum software. Photo Galleries, avatars and most attachments will not get migrated. All users, user groups, posts, threads, boards, polls, pm's etc will be moved over. The one big thing that's going to affect every user is that the migration process cannot copy your passwords over. So when the site comes back up after the migration you will need to go through the password reset process. The password reset process sends out an e-mail to the e-mail address attached to your account so make sure it's one that you still have access to.

You could just use cable with bare ends, just bend it around the screw into a hook shape and tighten the screw on it.

Balanced cables from Nate arrived today (thanks again nate ) and the m192 mkII does sound a good bit better balanced vs single-ended. Channel separation is greatly improved and the bit of treble glare that was present single-ended is gone.

Ok guys, we have a small decision to make here, for some reason during the day today something went wrong in the database that broke the user-readable url functionality. I've been able to switch to a backup from roughly 7am this morning. Which means we've lost all posts from later in the day.

I'm really quite happy with the O2's they suite my preferences quite well. I continue enjoying them more and more every day and that's really what it all comes down to.
-
yep it was added in the latest version of the mod

pics added to the first post

I'm no expert but yes based on parts cost alone it'd be feasible. I'd also be hesitant to buy it, while it does look nice the transformers they are using to hit that price point have to be absolute garbage.
-
Your luck hasn't improved that much
-
well I went with black which doesn't have the texture that the silver did/does
-
It's on my to-do list for tomorrow

It's pretty much the same case and faceplate it's really only the internals that are different.

Well my Northstar M192 MKII arrived today, took a little while to start using it though as I was having problems with my Squeezebox. So for now I'm using it with the EMU 0404 USB via foobar and ASIO output. I'm using the rca outputs till my new balanced cables from Nate arrive . I'll post pics later but here's some early impressions: detail retrival is good resolution and extension are very good tonality seems pretty accurate soundstage (especially depth) are excellent That's about it for now I'll add more as time goes on. Hi-rez pics here 1280x1024 pics are attached below

I don't think the darth beyers look all that bad but they sure do sound that bad. Tons of bass a pretty shrill treble and just about a non-existant midrange.

except the $30 a month plan would almost definitely not include unlimited data and the 200 txt messages a month that the regular plan has.
-
yeah the pics aren't very clear it's hard to make out anything other than the pcm1796 dac chips. having said that i did go ahead and place an order for the northstar m192 mk2. i should have it by the end of the week
-
well your pm was roughly 61000 characters which is still far short of the limit, though it's pretty ridiculous to send a 29 page pm .
-
not sure really, the db field size for the body of pm's has a limit of 16777215 characters and the pm wasn't that big. more likely the problem was related to the actual display of it. of course there isn't anything in the error logs though so i might never know what happened.
-
i would have been able to find it other ways but having the pm id made it about a 100 times faster
