    Deals

Blu-ray is pretty taxing and it's only been the last generation or so of video cards that even have hd video playback support anything prior to that and it's all on the software decoding and the cpu. The Phenom cpu in that machine certainly has enough power to do software decoding. Watching a blu-ray on my laptop (8800M GTX), with the video acceleration turned on has about 15-20% cpu usage.
  6. For wireless cards, honestly I think the best are the built in intel wireless nics that many laptops come with these days. For routers, I've had better luck with linksys and netgear stuff than I have with others. Another option I didn't think of before was to use a wired router and then just get a seperate wireless access point (some wireless routers can run in access point mode only).
  7. I'd avoid trendnet at all costs, their stuff is absolute garbage. When it was working, was the signal strength lower than you'd expect? One other possible solution you might want to try is something like this.
  8. Well there is already a waddragon user on audiogon so who knows. The waddragon user thats there has 2 positive feedbacks both as a buyer.
  9. I tend to agree with Dan for the time being hybrids are more about showing other people that you care about the environment. Also the break even point on most hybrids right now is somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 years. Unless they can bring hybrid costs down very soon, they aren't a viable solution IMO. People have already started changing their driving habits and I think it'll continue, year over year for the month of April the miles driven in the US went down by 1.4 billion miles. We really need to focus on increasing the supply, we need to able to do off-shore drilling and do more drilling in Alaska. With the speculation going on in the Crude Oil futures and the increasing demand from China/India raising the supply is the only real way to stop the runaway pricing.
  10. It's hard to expect any different though when they have bitchy shareholders screaming and hollering for record profits every quarter. The only feasible way to sustain that is do it by cutting costs and we're paying the price.
  11. For these plug-in hybrids is there any data available on how much power they draw to do a full charge?
  12. This is already turned on.
  13. hmm, there is a mod available to allow attachments in pm's but it's nearly two years old, not sure i want to bother trying it.

    Speaker Cable

Lucky you, mine likes to run behind the stereo/ht rig . She hasn't chewed or clawed any of the cables yet but I still like to try to keep her from getting back there.
  15. FiOS is for people who live on the east coast and don't have shit like that available.
  16. The 50/20 plan will be $89.95 in VA/NY and $130-$140 everywhere else.

    New AKG K702

So aside from the detachable cable, these are just black 701s right?
  18. Ah that makes sense then, I actually got sick of running our company mail server and convinced the powers that be to make the switch over to google apps premier. No more space concerns with each acct having 25gigs.
  19. Thats part of the reason to use IMAP if it's available to you, everything is kept on the mail server making switching e-mail clients a cinch.
  20. I know Comcast has a 16/2 service, but it might only be available in areas where they have to compete with FiOS
  21. Yeah I've used Thunderbird it's ok, it has decent IMAP support which is more than I can say for a lot of e-mail clients. They are in the process of completely redoing it though so you might want to wait till the betas for 3 start coming out.
  22. Yay! Looking forward to my 15/2 package being bumped up to 20/5 sometime next week.
  23. The wavelength gear is pretty highly regarded but you would get more functionality out of the dac-1 pre.
