There really aren't all that many sacd players around, not counting the universal players most of which don't have digital inputs. You'll have a very hard time finding a sacd capable player that also has digital inputs in the $1k range.
Except in the case of RSA in my opinion the rather craptacular designs and implementation of them directly lead to the less than stellar sound quality that they have. Ray does have the build quality thing down pat though.
With SP most of the concerns up till this SquareWave w/ dac have to do with crappy build quality and poor customer service. While those two factors are certainly annoying as hell they don't directly cause bad sound quality all the time. I suppose if the build quality is so horrible that shit is falling apart then yes certainly sound quality would suffer but for the most part that doesn't seem to be the case.
I've been watching quite a bit of Olympics so far, the men's 4x100 relay last night was crazy. It's not everyday you see a world record get destroyed by 4 seconds.
The DA100 Signature looks interesting, and even has an i2s input for the matching transport that's available. Another option might be the PS Audio Digital Link III or if your willing to go used something like this: Meridian 566
Had a great time, listened to hardly anything, just the BHSE which is fantastic btw. Nice to finally meet vicki, mike and a few others and nice to see some familiar faces as well.
