Wall Street - Faulty Risk Analysis?
I actually don't think they'll start to close down accounts, etc. But they will drastically increase interest rates and lower spending limits. I did hear something on the news last night that surprised me a bit. Something like 20-30% of all companies have to take out loans to make payroll. With the current freeze on lending how long before we start to see massive layoffs and closings?

Wall Street - Faulty Risk Analysis?
Yep I agree completely it's been a huge problem that pretty much everyone ignored and now it's going to bite us in the ass.

Wall Street - Faulty Risk Analysis?
Personal responsibility in this country has been gone for a very long time. It's always someone else's fault. Sad that things have come to this but it is very true.

Wall Street - Faulty Risk Analysis?
There's plenty of blame to go around for this issue. You can start out with people living and spending way beyond their means. Then you could go back to Clinton and his push for getting more people into houses (which led to lower standards for getting mortgages and increased risk). Or you can go back even further to Reagan who could be credited with turning us into a debtor nation. If you wanted to stay more in the moment you can of course also blame Bush for the out of control spending.

SVS Decision: PB12-NSD vs. 20-39 PCi
Posty, go with the cylinder I have the PC-Ultra and love the floor space that it saved vs my old sub. It also puts out a hell of a lot of bass. Also, try to keep the cross-over as low as you can. With your 22L's I'd have the sub running from 40hz on down.

Donations
Over the past two years or so I've received a number offers from the members here wanting to help out with any associated costs of this site and I've always turned them down as they haven't been needed. I think the site has hit a point where it's growing at a fairly steady rate and I'm starting to plan ahead for future growth and additional features. So to that end I am going to begin accepting donations to help cover the cost of a new server. I'll be adding a donation system to the site in the next day or so, you'll know it's up when you see a donation link show up on the top menu. You'll be able to donate money via all current methods supported by paypal and you'll also be able to track how much you've donated if you want to. The donation system will only be up and active during this (hopefully) brief period, once I hit the amount needed for the new server the donation system will be turned off. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, etc feel free to PM me.

gPhone
In theory Sprint only has a 30-day exclusive on it so it should hit AT&T sometime in November.

I'm way more interested in the HTC Touch Pro which hits Sprint Oct 19th then AT&T after that and maybe Verizon eventually.

If it wasn't T-mobile I'd think about it.

Head-Case NFL Thread
I'm pretty sure I cheered when I saw the Brady injury As to fantasy, I think it's a fun addition and it has brought new fans to the game but some people take it way too seriously which happens with everything.

Women...please stop driving
Many states have similar laws now but honestly they are a complete waste. The problem with peopling talking on their cell phones isn't holding up the phone it's that driving and talking at the same time is too difficult a task for many people.

Magnetically shielded speakers.
Time to complain, as the ebay ad clearly says "**** This PAIR of speakers you are bidding on are in Black. "

I'm curious as to what Meridian will charge you. Since the transport in the thing is just a $15 dvd-rom drive..

Just Brought a Inspiron Mini 9
It should be ok for doing very basic work, minimal web browsing, email and word processing. Other than that don't count on being able to do much very quickly. While Intel has hyped up Atom a hell of a lot it's really designed more for UMPC's and other ultra mobile/portable devices not laptops and netbooks. Via's Nano cpu is a much better cpu than Atom and hopefully will get more use in laptops and netbooks in the future.

Why is my Wireless Network faster than directly plugged in?
I wonder if it's only running a half-duplex when your plugging directly into the modem? Duplex mismatches are pretty common for causing slowness and other random network issues.

DAC to enjoy Stax Omega II
I would check out audiogon and see what you can find used. Your options are pretty slim new, in terms of getting something that actually sounds good and will be up to par w/ the O2's.
