Hmm, there weren't any errors when migrating over PM's. Btw e-mailing functions aren't working right now.
-
Ok for now registrations and any e-mail notifications aren't working. I'll get that sorted out as soon as I can.

Did you try the view new content link on the right? You also could be right that the import reset all that data.

Hey All, The change to the new forum software went pretty well. Few things I'd like to point out: 1) Old links don't currently work I ran into some troubles with that. I do believe I can fix it but I didn't want to keep the forums off-line till then. 2) I wasn't able to migrate over user albums (this is hopefully just temporary) 3) Tapatalk is supported and will work, but their website is currently down so I was unable to download the server-side files that I need to for it to work 4) Twitter updates - these won't work for now. If I have time later tonight I'll get it setup. 5) Some Private Messages were not able to be imported, I don't know why but it wasn't enough for me to spend much time looking into it. Those are the major things I can think of off the top of my head, feel free to PM me or post here with anything else you notice.

Forum Software Change - Saturday Jan. 15th at Noon EST
tkam replied to tkam's topic in General Announcements
Sorry should have mentioned in my initial post, Tapatalk will still work, the folks that make it have plugins for just about every forum software. Brent as far as posts creating a new tweet, I know there is some twitter integration available, I'll have to look into it more. -
Due some recent issues with the vBulletin software (the double post problem for example) and the general direction I see the software headed in (off a cliff). I've made the decision to switch to IPB Community & Forum Software - Invision Power Services, Inc.. Now for the good news, just about every feature currently available will be available with the new software. Existing links will continue to work, the links will change but old links will get re-directed to the new link. All user info including passwords will get migrated, so you won't be forced to reset your password, just login as usual. Right now I'm planning to do this change this Saturday, January 15th at Noon EST. If anything happens between now and then that delays that plan I'll update this post. I really don't know how long this switch will take, but I'm going to be safe and give myself a 4 hour window to get it done. If something does go wrong I can always revert back, but with the testing and planning I've done I think it will be pretty smooth.

Building New Home File Server
tkam replied to audiosceptic's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
I used to run a separate file server but switched to a ReadyNAS Pro, the pro is pretty expensive, but it's damn fast and theres a special version of squeezebox server you can install to it. Takes up a lot less space than my old server and has no problems maxing out the 1gig network port. -
yeah its from way back when we imported from the SMF forum software, for people that didn't enter a birthday (which wasn't required on SMF) the importer defaulted them to january 1, 1901

Not sure anyone has a need for this anymore, but finally there is a new mobile theme/style for Head-Case. Point your mobile browser to: mobile.head-case.org and you should be all set. You may need to login first before it switches to the mobile theme and there's a default button at the top right to switch back to the default theme at any time. The mobile theme is also available in the Style Chooser located at the bottom left of every page, it's the one labeled "Lightweight".

Going to take this a bit off-topic for a moment and bring up gear . If anyone coming has a pair of LCD-2's please bring them, they are about the only headphones out there now that interest me so it'd be nice to hear them.

That's the use I picture it having, entertainment for the cat when I'm not home.

I ended up just choosing the AAA rate, its the same as the group discount rate at least for the Studio. So I'm officially confirmed, getting in friday leaving monday!

I've offered to migrate the headwize library over here, but Chu Moy wanted all the posts moved as well, which would be way more difficult and not nearly important IMHO as the library is. At least that was the case that last I heard from Chu which was, probably a year ago now? My offer still stands for migrating the library over here, I'd be willing to do the work to get all the projects moved over into the CMS of vBulletin 4.

CMS's serve a useful purpose as platforms for non-technical people to easily post things to the web. Drupal is pretty cool and has more features/options then just about any other CMS so it can get complicated. Then again there's always Wordpress for those that want something simple to use, especially if you don't need all the features of Drupal.

just a FYI if you choose Monday as your checkout date is the group rate isn't good for then.

Thanks to all those who have served or are currently serving in any branch of the military!

Last night's ep was good, still need to go back and check out the 1st ep though. Frank Darabont's involvement is huge for the legitimacy of this show IMO.

flight booked, getting in on friday at 2pm, leaving monday at 4pm.

There going to be anything going on Monday the 13th? Trying to figure out when to fly out.
