I would avoid the zhalou, parts quality is pretty low and there have been reports of extremely high dc offset at the rca and xlr outputs. Build quality is also less than stellar looks pretty fragile to me. The Lavry is a very nice dac we have a few members here that have them.
Maybe it's just me but I've always seen headwize as technically oriented forum that seemed to be lacking in other discussion areas. I don't see any reason why headwize can't remain the mecca of technical oriented headphone/amp related material. The lack of forum categories and general absence of posting in some of the categories (electronic gear for instance) are partially why I decided to start up and host this forum.
Head-Case will eventually become open, I certainly don't want or expect it to get anywere near as large as head-fi is. But yes for the time being the bandwidth is available. The server it is running on comes with 2TB per month of bandwidth. Addtional bandwidth can be added at $100 per each 1TB.
So far for me the 650's have the most dramatic improvement but really I think every headphone I've tried has improved to some degree when balanced. If I can make it to the maryland meet in a few weeks hopefully I'll get to hear Hirsch's balanced rs-1's.
I think that is the most promising part of the X-1, gives an almost endless amount of ways to tweak the sound. Should be fun to try one with L3000 drivers
Just an FYI the available themes and number of themes will change as things progress. Especially when a new version of the forum software is released, everyone might be stuck with the default theme for a few days after that . I will always start a thread in the general announcements forum when a forum software upgrade is scheduled.
Actually that sticky doesn't affect if the registration page works or not. The registration page along with a few other issues were broken, they have all been fixed as of yesterday though.
I know these are still pretty new but has anyone tried one yet: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=S15 ?? My power here is pretty bad, it's not particularly dirty but during the summer the voltages will often drop below 100. I figure something like this could be quite useful for brownouts and the like.
You do have to be registered don't worry about that at all. I'm not 100% sure why it shows that sometimes but a guest cannot view anything. Feel free to log out and try it yourself if you wish.
