Regular members are now allowed to edit their own posts up to 5 minutes after posting. This should be plenty of time to fix any typos or what not and should be short enough to make sure someone can't remove the contents of their posts at a later time.

You have yourself to thank for that, this thread was perfectly fine, I didn't even mind that you edited some of your posts. I did however mind when you removed your first post which was your attempt at making this thread useless and hoping it would be removed.

What a shock to avoid any kind of discussion he modifies all his posts, I think that pretty much says it all.

Geez what is it with some people, your opinion is just as valid as anyone else but for some reason you get pissy when someone disagrees with you. There have been comments saying that it looks nice as well as some looking build and design info. In the first post, well before you deleted it you said you would post more about the design and try to help answer questions about it. If you didn't want to get those type of questions don't ask for them.

There is plenty of freedom here, but for some reason you seem to have a problem with that freedom if others have a different opinion than you.

Well I ended up going with a used pair of Tyler Acoustic Linbrook Signature Monitors that I found for a fantastic price on Audiogon.

It looks nice, but it's a little early to call it awesome unless you've heard it already. Nice to see another option in the balanced area though.

I'm not getting my information from anywhere just seemed like a safe assumption since you are reworking the mobile line in the next year or two that you wouldn't get around to upgrading the current products in the more expensive lines until after that. If you do have new modules or other upgrades to the higher priced lines then thats certainly good news. As we like new toys P.S. - Any word on that rumored 300b based amp? -
Wow nice job that looks pretty sweet.
-
Hmm interesting, I remember Larry saying the pair I had was one of the bassier ones he'd come across and to me they were still lean in the bass department.

Welcome to the nut house bangpod

I guess we just have different tastes then as I really don't think the 701 are in the same league as the k1000.
-
Yikes, I'm curious what did you use to power the k1000? I own both the k1000 and the k701 and IMO the k1000 are vastly superior. Sure the k701 have better overall balance and better low-bass frequency response but they don't reach the same level of refinement or have the same level of musicality.
-
I still think they are nice phones, my tastes just lean towards a warmer sound. I think if someone is looking for a tonally balanced phone they should take a serious look at the 701s.

Yeah I gather there will be new products in the mobile line next year, but I wouldn't expect many changes to the desktop, home or max lines anytime soon. -
The treble and midrange are nice but they still don't have enough bass
-
I've actually been going through a similar thing with the k701, they are very neutral phones with a pretty even tonal balance but I find myself reaching for my other headphones more often than not. Also I agree people who have been comparing them to k1000 have never heard the k1000 properly amped as the the k1000 are in a totally different league.

Thanks Mike but thats just a tad bit out of my price range . The dynaudio contour 3.4's look very interesting though I'll have to keep an eye out for a decently priced used pair. I've pretty much decided that I'd like my new speakers to be ... non-fatuiging, have strong bass response, and be on the warm side of things. It'd probably help if I mention my budget which is roughly $3000 or so and I've decided that floor-standers will also be considered

It's also worth remember that Tyll doesn't really like Grados so its no surprise that their amps are better with Senns -
Haha ok, so a single forum with each manufacturer getting their own thread. Now one more question, should we automatically give manufacturers a thread? Or only those that want one?
-
Well the industry standard for XLR outs is male jacks, which is why when connecting to the xlr outs on a dac or whatever you need female xlr connectors. The only thing that uses female xlr jacks for output is balanced headphone amps. For everything else female xlr jacks are inputs.

One of the ideas about this particular subject thats been floating around in my head is to create a manufacturer forum, and give each manufacturer their own child forum underneath that. Manufacturers could use this to announce new products or answer questions about current products that members want to ask. My only concern is that if the manufacturers don't participate in their own child forum the whole idea becomes some what of a waste of time.

Thanks for the recommendations guys I'm going to check out some of these albums, keep em coming

Option 2 wouldn't be bad except the TubeDac isn't very good at all. Total lack of detail and low-end extension.
