  1. Out of those choices I'd put the cary 306 in first followed by the marantz sa8260.

    Balanced RS-1's

Someone really needs to lend me a pair of balanced rs-1's.
  4. The PrimaLuna Prologue Six monoblocs, they should arrive on Tuesday

    Head-fi is down?

Yep looks like someone broke it
  7. Yep, professional reviews are pretty useless for the most part. The Stereophile recommended components list is especially bad though.
  8. Yep sure thing, the new monoblocs should be here in about a week that should complete the setup .
  9. Thats not true a few people are sucessfully running their 580/600/650 with their favorite replacement cable hard wired to the driver.
  10. Very nice so far, bass is deep and tight and they have excellent dynamics
  11. I wouldn't hate Sony as much as I would hate the jackasses that came out with dualdisc. It should have been pretty obvious that making a new disc that is thicker than cd's and dvd's would cause issues.
  12. The local fedex man made yet another delivery today...
  13. Very cool news Tyll, based on my previous experience with amps going from the interstil buffers to diamond buffers the improvements should be rather dramatic. And I'll keep hoping for a standalone version of the Max Dac
  14. I still think headroom should release the max dac as a standalone dac at some point
  15. I think for the most part every piece of gear I own and have owned have been bought blind. There just really isn't a way to demo most of this stuff before hand. Meets can be useful for getting a basic idea of how something might sound but thats about it. I think the 650s are the only thing I had heard prior to buying them. At least for the most part I've been quite happy with my blind purchases so I guess it all worked out.
  16. I would certainly check audiogon for some used cdp's, but for something new the Onix cdp's are pretty nice for their price. You might also want to consider getting a DAC instead, you should be able to pick up a used ack dack v1 for under $500 with no problem.
  17. I agree with grandenigma on the "high-end portable" people really over-emphasis how good they are. They serve their purpose of being portable amps but they can't compete with good home amps. I think alot of this also comes down to source material as well, the improvements you get from an amp (portable or home) are only as great as the source allows.
  18. Not true the L3000 have similar bass quantity as well
  19. Nope but the extra large display is pretty handy if your sitting across the room and no definetly not an emphaisized high end. Might have the most non-fatiuging high end I've heard. I'll post more impressions later. Maybe some comparisons with my modded philips too
  20. Haha actually my rack will be almost all black gear pretty soon, just the philips and panamax will be silver.
  21. Does Samuel L really need money this badly??
  22. Congrats hungry, those are pretty nice budget speakers you have there
  23. Well I come home from work today and I see a small wood crate on my doorstep and it turns out to be my new Resolution Audio Opus 21....
  24. Bleh I hate Duke, I think LSU should be quite a challenge for them with their strong frontline.
  25. I'll take a stab at this one, its the Gilmore Reference
