Still pretty early on but so far they seem to have an amazing horizontal off-axis response. As far as the vertical off-axis response it's pretty good except for the treble as pretty much all ribbon tweeters suffer from rather poor vertical off-axis response.

    Here we go again...

The speakers arrived yesterday and while I'm just driving them with an old rotel amp till the new amps arrive I must say that I'm already impressed. They have this wonderful ability to to totally disappear in the room and let the music take hold of you. Very engaging, dynamic sound. Great stuff so far. I'll post some pics tonight if I can pull myself away from listening for a couple minutes .
  5. Well it was 6 or 7 million tubes
  6. If I didn't just buy new speakers I'd be all over this

I've only heard them once before but I was completely blown away. Wonderful tonality and powerful dynamics. I'll of course post more impressions and pictures after they arrive. This particular pair is a demo pair with very little use, I paid $2850 shipped they are $5K new. I'll be powering them with a pair of monoblocks that use the ICE power modules that are used in all the belcanto, ps audio, etc amps these days.
  8. Could be a cool thing for people that watch a lot of movies with headphones.
  9. Well the speaker bug has bit again, I just couldn't pass up on a deal I saw for a demo pair of these: They are Selah Audio 3D's. http://selahaudio.com/id134.html
  10. Yep
  11. I'm not surprised you didn't like them when I heard the edition 7's I thought they were the worst headphones I'd heard. I really doubt Ultrasone can make a decent sounding headphone.
  12. I think most of the negatives of tube amps that you describe are stereotypical of bad tube amps. Good tube amps can sound just as fast and as detailed as good solid state amps. Also the WA6 uses an output transformer so the quality of the transformer can have just as much of an effect on the sound as the tubes can.
  13. Any suggestions on a good card reader? Needs to be multi-format (CF, SD (SDHC if possible), xD, MMC).
  14. Cool I'd like to hear your uber-k340s
  15. I'll be hosting a meet on Saturday March 31st. Feel free to post in this thread what you plan to bring if anything. PM me for location and directions.
  16. I think only the manufacturers would have those numbers and we know how forthcoming companies are when it comes to their sales numbers
  17. Yep that pretty much covers it though I'm sure there are some others.
  18. FYI Universal is releasing the 1st season of Battlestar Galactica on HD-DVD later this year.
  19. Since there seems to be a bit of confusion around who qualifies as a Member of the Trade and what they are allowed to post about I've put together a quick little run down. Who are Members of the Trade?? A) anyone who makes or sells any audio related gear any persons who have direct relationships with persons or companies who fall under (A) C) anyone receiving gifts or money in return posts/threads What are they allowed to do @ Head-case?? All members of the trade have the exact same posting rights as regular members. They just a custom title stating their company affiliation and are put into the Members of the Trade group. We don't want to restrict what MoT can post about we just want all the members to be aware or who the MoT are so they can take that into consideration when reading posts by said MoT.
  20. I think one thing that a number of people are missing is that to be considered a member of the trade (here at least) compensation is completely irrelevant. Anyone who has direct involvement with a manufacturer, retailer, etc is a MoT regardless of if they get paid or not. Art, in your case Cattylink has specifically called you an endorsed support/repair person for at least the Eastsound E5 and the Doge 6210. I have the e-mails from Snowy @ Cattlyink to prove it so don't bother trying to deny it. The fact that you say you receive no compensation is totally irrelevant. You have a relationship with a company in the industry that stands to benefit from positive posting. End of story.
  21. Let us know how it is. If it's good I guess I'll pick up the hd-dvd or blu-ray version at some point.
  22. Pretty good amount of bass and bright as hell
  23. For me it the L3000 hands down.
  24. If you can afford it it's probably worth it as you will always be sell them for little or no loss if they don't work out for you.
  25. Added a couple more themes back today.
