  1. Ah ha I was somewhat referring to his ethnicity, and forgot that on Leno he had mentioned he's canadian, so I got it half right. Canadian Indian represent, sweet. Now that's a weird combo.
  2. Funny guy! I saw him on Leno one night. American Indian represent
  3. Well in the famous words of the old chinese lady that owns the little grocery store down the corner... "...yoo don liek, yoo don buiye!!!" Apparently there is enough demand for $40 pieces of foam, and even if there wasn't, the margin is cleary big enough to not care whether people buy them or not. Please keep in mind they are just not foam pucks, they are GRADO foam pucks hahahahaha
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovfwYrLNIw8]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovfwYrLNIw8 Good lordy ewing JR, don't think your dad could do that. For me this ranks up there with Jordan's cradle dunk, shawn kemps dunk from the free throw, and dominique wilkin's windmill
  5. Have a good one Mike! Go buy some new vinyl to check out.
  6. I am actually calling my new senn cable that you built for me the "SIALO." Apparently it is a medical term, for saliva, to salivate, which fits because the cable is darn good sounding. Of course those in the know truly know what it stands for
  7. Hahaha nice edit! Note to self: Don't mess with someone who has message editing abilities. Confucious says..."one who messes with mod hits himself in eye with fly swatter"
  8. Just received my proto senn cable that I commissioned Nate to help me out with (the ones posted previously by him). Man I love this UP-OCC wire. You get the detail and precision and focus but it is warmer and full-bodied as well. I am one happy camper. And to think that Nate is saying he can do better than this is simply scary
  9. I stand corrected - "I'm dumb" - as in the contractual version of - "I am dumb"
  10. Your dumb
  11. The "fuzz" was created by the one and only goredwings19. So shut your mouth and know your place foo.
  12. I think the concept of "dark" vs "fuzzy" needs to be elaborated and clarified further to get a better sense of what people are referring too. I will use the RS-1's as an example. Most users find the highs to be slightly forward, even etched, where it gives the overall sound balance a "brighter" perspective. However, the fullness of the mids and the upper bass gives the overall sound a "fuzziness", sometimes I call it a dirty or "mushy" sound, which others could describe as dark. Dark would be more in line with the senn 650's I think, even though I can see where someone would say a grado is dark especially if they use flat pads and it has a more full bodied presentation. Compared to the Dt880's however, which to my ears have a very shrill, thin, super etched presentation, the grados are definitely "darker" than them.
  13. There are 3 levels of hot that I have experienced... (1) Zana Deux hot - the chassis gets pretty warm due to the chassis acting as a heatsink for the 6c33c's. It is not too hot where you can't touch the chassis, it is warm to the point where you can touch the chassis at its hottest point and keep it there for an extended period of time without getting uncomfortable. Works great in the winter especially in Chicago. Most class A solid state headphone amps and tube amps fall under this category, which is perfectly normal and usually well below maximum operational points. Obviously the more biased into class A, the hotter it will get typically. (2) Pass Labs/First Watt hot - the hotness takes a whole other level. You can touch the chassis but after awhile it gets a bit too much and you have to take off your hand. However still perfectly operational and nothing to worry about with internals and safety. (3) Prototype Raptor at Chicago Meet hot - this is the highest level of hot that I have experienced. The Raptor was debuted at the Chicago meet at Ray's January 2005 and the chassis was so hot you could not touch it, if you did it you would have to lift your finger up immediately. The production was much better in that regard, and when the power supply went to the switching supply it was fine. Levels 1 and 2 are fine...level 3....ummmm....someone else can comment.
  14. Yes that is a terrible idea! It is so bad you can forward me the offer from the user and I will take it off your hands EDIT: I could swear you can get a 650 for not that much more, I knw absorbine has his on sale for 225 i think. I would probably go that route.
  15. Sure it will be fine. Its going to be MSRP which for the 225's is a fair value. I am in the chicagoland area and all the brick and mortars that carry grados are pretty much the same thing.
  16. damn I agree as well...Mike soon enough we'll be like BFF's omg like laters.
  17. I concur
  18. I concur
  19. Whoa, to have a line of cables named after me, feels very Mark Levinson ish. I do agree that sUcKItALo is more fun. Next thing we need to do nate is get in business together and source it to China, we will be riding porsches soon enough.
  20. excellent work Nate - and just so everyone knows, the proto is for me, hahahaha! So get your grubby hands off the table, I get 1st dibs. I gave the idea to nate from my experience with Chimera Labs IC's I use that utilize the ohno continuous cast copper stuff and its excellent, figured why not for a senn cable? The issue would have been flexibility but Nate was on board and said "no problem." I am excited to check it out for sure.
  21. Nope this is just for my headphone rig, source and zana thats it, should be plenty of headroom left. Here is a pic:
  22. I'm still looking around. I opted out of the richard gray stuff, apparently they are just really big inductors in parallel with the AC line. The literature says they actually can store energy and divert current back into the AC line thus helping your gear perform better, which is probably BS. I think the calculations work out that the inductor probably can store maybe 0.01VA (joules) of energy. They claim that the inductor acts as a "mechanical flywheel" that helps your gear perform more to ideal conditions, and states that this brings the power transformer from outside closer to your home. Yup. I have just took notice of powervar. They appear to just be huge isolating transformers with some surge protection and HF AC filter as well. THey can be had for cheap even though some audiophiles are starting to dress them up and put cyro'd outlets on them and sell on audiogon. But I may pick up a used one on ebay, as they get dumped from hospitals consistently and sold there. I read somewhere that Kevin uses a 4kva isolating transformer, the one I am looking at is slightly under 2000 volts but can handle 16 amps of current which should be more than plenty. THe popular version appears to handle 12 amps of current and I believe the voltage rating was 1440.
  23. I could understand two seperate volume pots for the reason Mike stated above. A lot of people can hear louder/better in one ear, so if I had two pots I would just play a mono record or something and match the channels until it was dead on center to my ears. Also a lot of cans have a slight channel imbalance as well, and would agree the senns are one of the more consistent and balanced in that regard. I am not sure what the studies show but in America I think most americans have a slight more hearing loss in the left ear as a result of driving on that side of the car and wind noise in the left ear when you drive with your window down. And yes postjack I agree with your assertion that if your cans/hearing is so imbalanced that you will need one whole step on a SA to balance it (if that is even possible) you have more pressing issues.
  24. Just wondering who out there has owned them or messed with them. Am starting to read up on power conditioners because I believe the power feeding my rig could possibly have a detrimental effect on the sound based on experience. Certain times during the day the rig can sound different, so I would like to keep it consistent, if not noticeably better.
