Same guy that is selling all those HP1000's on audiogon and ebay?

I was thinking you could use them to upgrade a hornet

BASS CAPACITOR Ok, someone explain what a digital capacitor is? Thanks.
-
The plate caps are different too, black covered rather than the traditional red covering. Looks much better with the black covering.

She has her tongue pierced too - hotness.

Yah fo sho the kucinich chick is mad hot.

Mahir is badass - we should invite him to the next international meet, he does like music and I bet he plays a mean accordion. I love how the peter pan guy is 53 years old and is making a connection between peter pan and jesus christ in the quote above the home page.

That is whom I got my winged C's from as well. Very good guy, those tubes were in their original packaging and hermetically sealed in plastic bags that was typical of svetlana at the time. One of mine went dead within a couple of hours and the seller replaced it, good integrity. As you can see mike the new diodes have those plate caps. I did touch the top of the tube one time before installing the plate cap in the beginning - biiiiigggg mistage. Nice shock of whatever B+ was going through it. And I concur, the HP2 with zana is pretty epic. RS-1 aint shabby either. It helps that in the low impedance the ZD doesn't really drive much voltage but there is a good chunk of current flowing through the 6c33cb's, coupled with their low gain you get a really nice grado amp.

Random - the Jethro Tull DCC is amazing! Thats a good one to play

Thanks for the help guys. At the last meet, the Zana pushed the headphile modded k340's easily. Just a very deep, full bodied sound, like a 650 but with more midrange clarity and presence. Sounded incredibly tight and balanced, what a nice sound. I am a gradohead too and you know how we can be picky about our stuff, I respect the senns but they just don;t do it for me unfortunately.

Hey guys, At the last meet, I really enjoyed the k340's. They sounded great out of various setups, especially the zana. The bass was quite full and deep, I personally did not hear any issues or lack of. It was a headphile modded version though. I would really love to pick up a set. I have no idea though what I should be looking for. I have read about different versions. There seems to be an assortment of mods that can be done to improve performance, which I haven't quite grasped on. Ideally I would love to pick up a used set modded by a reputable user, just need to know what to look for and/or what questions I should be asking. Thanks guys.

cuddle party - is that a euphemism for blue balls?

Nate, Have you revealed the design and circuit topology yet? I am curious to the design of the amp, I remember you mentioning you plan on releasing the schematic but I am not sure if I missed it somewhere.

NKOTB - TTVJ/Millett 307A Headphone Amp

I think I read some impressions with balanced RS-1's and balanced PS-1's. I believe they were both thumbs up. -

Yeah I never thought it looked bad per se, just really practical and utilitarian. It appears that the tubes and transformers are located not by looks but by where they would sound and perform best located. I would love to hear it as I love the sound of a solid tube amp with killer iron. I bet it's heavy, those trannies look menacing. -
Nice! Forgot how much of an opera fan you are.

Best Tube Amp Today? Cost maybe an object

I can see where your coming from with that. Take an awesome transformer and couple it to a very linear and transparent tube like a 45 and your pretty much there to riding the line right between great musicality and very linear, accurate, detailed, focused sound. -

I hate to use that description but honestly that is the best that I can put into words. If I were to attempt to be more specific, the transformer amps appear just a tad slower. image outlines are more blurry, images appear to sort of bleed into each other more. OTL is more precise, focused, faster, pinpoint. I am not the expert but I would suppose a cap in the signal path offers a bit more linearity than a transformer. I am making transformer amps sound bad but with really good iron you would never fault the sound unless you compared directly to a top notch OTL that had kickass output caps. If you were to compare apples to apples, a PERFECT kickass transformer no distortion no ringing whatsoever with the best cap, I believe the transformer will sound better because it will offer better drive, lower output impedance, better damping factor, with less loading of the tube. I am not sure if the perfect transformer exists though and if it did man I would imagine it would cost at least 4 figures. You can find great caps for specific topologies for significantly less. I think the best way to compare transformer to OTL is to find designs from the same manufacturer as it will provide a common base to make references from. For example when I compared the moth s2a3 with electraprint trannies to the Zana Deux. I will say that when I compared the OTL HD300 to tranny coupled HD25 I found the HD25 to be way more linear and neutral, with much better soundstage and overall drive than the HD300, but I attribute that more to the HD300 being a more simple raw design and the hd25 using some tricks up its sleeve to get that killer sound at that pricepoint. -
Dude you have like 9 unread messages popular guy huh?

And I thought these were big: 250uF polyprop soybean oil - 1000uF teflon film =

Bingo - I cannot see how any consumer can purchase any JL product in good conscience or if you value your dollar. While I feel the evidence is quite clear, I can see how others may think simply due to the fact that the R10's were previously modded (even though it is clear the drivers were never touched nor the enclosures opened up which is confirmed by jenalabs) JL is going to use that fact as there only "out" and the one thing they are using to take NO accountability for what has occured. Not someone you should do business with.

You know it my friends! Take care guys, thanks for the shout out.

You got it - output from the plate. And since the 6c33c has a pretty low plate resistance as is (craig has it at 90 ohms), just a bit of negative feedback and he drops it to 12 ohms output.
