  1. Did you get the case, and did it work out? (fits well, holes match correctly, etc. )
  2. Thanks Nate! PM Sent.
  3. The apple case and especially the camera dock are like rare species around here. When I mention them the sales reps get real silent and creepy like they've seen a ghost. Didn't think they would be such a hot commodity.
  4. Headcase makes me spend money.
  5. Vicki, my primary reason for ipad was surfing, and every demo I tried was blazing fast. The a4 chip is impressive. So it was probably just an aberration
  6. If anyone wants to throw out a case rec before I hit up best buy tonight I would appreciate it.
  7. Close - admin and admin
  8. Apple Acknowledges iPad Wi-Fi Issues | Gadget Lab | Wired.com Apparently. Yeah I need to go in my router and try to take care of that...though I can't figure out the life of me what the username and password is EDIT: "Fixed" it by going to network settings on ipad. reset, rest network settings. Who knows...its working now...
  9. weird - my ipad is having issues connecting to my wifi. It just suddenly disconnected, and when I try to reconnect, it says it cannot...":( Turned off and charging, though i have no idea (battery was still at 61%)
  10. Forscore. It was recommended on the first page. You scan it to PDF on your computer, then through itunes just upload it directly into the app. My goal is to download all my music for the concert year, so instead of using a binder with torn pages, I can use the ipad for concerts and rehearsal.
  11. Yah. I already got the for score app and have already started scanning in the music I plan on performing for my fall concert:)
  12. Readdledocs is pretty sick. I have owned the app for a minute and have already mapped on my desktop the iPad drive, transferred all my canjam docs to it, synced up with my gmail docs for the other canjam stuff, and am setting up my readdle storage account. Wow.
  13. Got my home sharing to work. I have the flashlight app on my iphone it works well.
  14. I went ahead and just purchased a 32gb wifi. I have the iPhone for 3g access and I wanted to play it safe and spend the money on more space as my app buying has increased, and I would love to use the ipad as a music server type thing. However, the store was out of cases (i really like the simple looks of the apple one) and camera connectors, so if anyone has a spare by them I would gladly reimburse you for it. Thanks guys for all your help. Once I get my iTunes stuff squared away I'll be good.
  15. weird - i think my itunes version on my desktop needs to be updated or something, as my laptop has the recent itunes version and the desktop does not. Well that will work out if so. Thanks.
  16. Yup, you hit it on the head. Just figured it out. I have that home sharing thing going, but it won't let me transfer the apps from the one computer to the other (there doesn't appear to be that option when I click underneath SHARED. But music library is good, but I am more concerned having my apps transfer over than my music.
  17. Yup, see what you are saying, about the same as the 32gb wifi. I will figure it out. Though I am having a hard time figuring out how I can transfer some of the apps on my iphone over to the ipad. For some reason my itunes only has two of my apps, everything else doesn't pop up. I guess I thought I could just sync my iphone to computer (but it will only let me transfer from the computer and replace everything on the iphone), then transfer to ipad. I plan on stopping by my local apple store so we will figure it out.
  18. Well now that you say so, moar 3G! I can transfer the apps I have already paid for on my iphone to the ipad, correct?
  19. Is there anything different from the 3g version and wifi version, from a performance/hardware standpoint? I really should stay away from reading random eblogs and such but I believe I may have read that the 3g has a different chip. EDIT: Wow, I think the 32gb 3g might be a bit much for what I am willing to spend on that device. As of now the boss is on board with the 16gb wifi and I probably can schmooze to an upgrade to 32gb wifi but the 3g is pushing it for sure. I really don't have many apps or use a lot if space either, my current 8gb iphone I don't think I have even used 1gb. Question now remains: Buy at local ipad store or go through appl store and avoid sales tax! In addition to the case, are there other accesories I should invest in (like that camera usb dock connector)?
  20. Wife approved ipad purchase, woot! Now need to consider 3g and size. I really don't need the 3g and could use the money for size and apps. Or do I wait for summer on the rumores camera version...
  21. I concur. David unless you have access to information which I or others do not, I think you are really off the mark here. Jacob sums it up really well that if you think this is SP markup with wallwarts and the such I would say you are even more off base. Yes, Todd runs a business, and he is free to charge whatever the heck he wants to charge. His markup is whatever he wants it to be. Whether it is 2x, 3x, or 10x, I truly don't care, as it's his perogative. There is always DIY if you want to go the "direct route", but I wouldn't be surprised if you tried to DIY a similar design and cost of parts started getting into the $3000 mark at least. If we are using the 307A as a reference, I wouldn't be suprised if we are talking in the area of $1500 in iron alone. That's output transformers, input transformers (possibly), power transformer, choke...you know Jack from Electraprint and though his costs are reasonable for custom stuff iron adds up very fast. Let's take the filament supply - 307A I believe he used the constant current sources from the hifi filament supply or whatever it is, that is I think maybe $250 for just the filament supplies. Let's say Pete and Todd are using their own version or custom version of it, whatever it may be. Creating a high quality filament supply that is constant current DC and able to supply whatever amps you need, at least 2-3 amps I would imagine is not easy and is not cheap. Factor in labor (which IMO is a legitimate charge and if it takes you 10 hours to build one or whatever you should charge whatever you charge for labor). Let's say for argument's sake it takes 10 hours to build. I think an high quality engineer like Pete's background is worth $50/hour of labor IMO. I know Craig has gone as low as $25/hour for labor on some of his gear which is his perogative. So taking $50/hour for labor that is at least $500 just for labor alone, assuming it only takes 10 hours to build. Oh and David before you swipe back, think about what you as a lawyer charge per hour, or if you would be willing to offer free counsel on the phone or in person (I will take a guess and assume a lawyer can average anywhere between $200-$500 per hour, which again is your thing and your entitled to it but I personally don't mind a high quality engineer charging $50 /hour for their labor). I still haven't even touched on parts like resistors, capacitors, random PCB's for a CCS load, wiring, input jacks, output jacks, knobs, switches. etc. I'll throw out that random stuff like that is probably around the $500-$1000 mark, again DIYers excuse me if my numbers are off. Oh we need a chassis. That I am positive can be anywhere between $300-$500 as the metal needs to be bought, has to be designed, custom machined, etc. Adding up the numbers above and going conservative, I guess at least $3000 in parts. Then add distribution and profit etc. and its okay. I don't mean to sound like a know it all and guys like Nate and luvdunhill could probably be more accurate but I have been going through a process of having a custom amp built for me, which some of you are aware of, and I simply am aware of how much stuff really costs when you want something high end. Not sure how my amp compares to Pete and Todd's beast but my amp alone has $2000 in parts all detailed by invoice and everything, so yes I can imagine that the pinnacle is what it is.
  22. Nice - I guess what I was alluding to was that I would be lucky to have even close to 30 minutes of total listening time for the whole event, so I might as well allocate it towards that amp...and considering I am an organizer I do what I want!
  23. I do like the look of the older TTVJ 307A which honestly looked very good in person. I know I will be too busy to listen to anything as I run around but I will make it a goal to get 30 minutes on the apex/pinnacle/top of the mountain whatever amp for sure.
  24. Thanks guys - I actually went ahead and upgraded to the latest OS through Itunes. Two things: 1) I do feel things are running much faster 2) My tethering still works
