  1. Nitrogens. Eric something.
  2. More standardized I presume?
  3. Even something like a Robert Harley's complete guide to high end audio is better than nothing. It's geared to the layman, very easy to understand, and touches on a variety of topics. All the Nelson pass articles are great too. I like dougs parafeed article as it really breaks down how a tube operates in a simple, clear, and concise manner - it was also Doug in his modding of my moth si2a3/45 h that really showed me how drastic the effect is of how a tube is loaded, in that case he CCS loaded the input tube and LED biased it which really improved things (as well as showing how limited even the best SET circuits are).
  4. Ray has perfected the argument of "you can only evaluate the sound of something if you have heard it and owned it". Most "audiophiles" look at hifi as a purely subjective thing, which is the result of the lack of basic electronics knowledge of most people in general, and that is scary. It's clear in spritzers explanation that his WES is close enough, if not better than, an actual woo wes. Basic knowledge of how a tube or transistor works, specifically how a CCS is almost always a much better load option for a tube than a resistor, makes that apparent, there really isn't any subjectivity to the idea that a CCS allows a tube to operate under more ideal parameters than a resistor, which was the point trying to be made. However Jude, like many others, view hifi purely subjectively, but ideally i feel some background electronic knowledge really does help the subjective experience, and unless someone is willing to read a book or two and become more objective in their listening evaluations it is all a moot point.
  5. Tyll is superhuman so it's ok.
  6. Can't go wrong with the pinnacle. That is a true bonafide TOTL reference amp. I think I was able to talk Tyll into checking out Doug's DSHA-1, which I can attest that it does a really nice job driving the Audeze LCD2 at least. Tkam has mentioned the L-2 is even better.
  7. That's a first.
  8. Vmoda and Philips ftmfw
  9. Yeah, I think so...considering I am a choir director with a fondness for musical theater that is saying something too.
  10. Nice king and I reference Steve
  11. Correct, they just screw and unscrew on. Would your phase plugs even fit mine being 8" vs 5"? Also i am sure if you call Jon he would be glad to send you a set or exchange.
  12. I have the older style associated with the dx45 and 55. I never had the chance to hear the new style associated with my 65's - Jon simply replaced them with the old one when he installed them in my cabs as he found a distortion with the new ones where they whistle and he doesn't bother with them.
  13. Firstwatt fanboys ftw
  14. I would imagine the distortion levels are very high
  15. Happy birthday! Will have a gumballhead in your honor.
  16. Thanks!
  17. Sorry for the long bump...my touch detects and SD card just fine but when I plug in my portable USB drive it doesn't sense/detect it whatsoever. It's a basic WD 250 gb portable thing, I believe formatted in FAT32
  18. Grado brethren! Happy birthday
  19. happy b-day to my DCC mentor!
  20. Does NHT have a powered speaker?
  21. (cue probationary period for new members...)
  22. Wow these m80's are awesome. The tonal balance is excellent Killer packaging, headphones are built really well, pads are comfy, and they are much smaller than I would have imagined. Some odd reason they remind me of the jh16 balance...or even a vintage rs1 regarding tonal balance.
  23. 95% of the population probably doesn't even know what a headphone amp is.
  24. Well damn you Tyll - just snagged a BIN m80 on eBay. I predict it to be grape, watermelon, with a tint of cumquat.
  25. Wait, doesn't Skylab have something like this already?
