Bookshelf speakers/monitors that can take a digital input?
Those look nice but are definitely over budget for my application and need. If I were to do $1000 plus I'd probably do Jordan mltl which I can get for just under $1000 shipping included from Jordan USA (they have the ead e100hd which replaces the jx92s). Definitely staying with powered bookshelves for now.

No go on wall mounts due to wife non acceptance Take a look at the attached pic - you have about 8" on each side of the furniture. I'm thinking A2 and just set on ground to the sides of furniture, I believe they have adjustable risers to angle them up. Can't be any worse than the cheapo soundbar on the ground. They have a volume control but I can do volume from the oppo analog out as well. Last call for any cheaper options than the audioengine a2 at $200 for powered bookshelves? Edit. Not sure why the uploaded is flipping my pic upside down. We do not have an anti gravity chamber I assure you.

Bookshelf speakers/monitors that can take a digital input?
If I do a separate amp will probably have to be class d for size and heat. Dusty, unfortunately I've got about maybe 8 inches on each side of the TV furniture stand and the left speaker will get hermetically sealed into a wall. Not enough land on the furniture as a bookshelf would cover some of the TV. Arg. Don't want to bother with stands so I may need to look at tall and skinny full sized speakers.

http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/a100 Is there anything out there smaller/cheaper? Would have to fit in my cabinet, which could output to those $99 pioneer bookshelves people have been raving about.

Bookshelf speakers/monitors that can take a digital input?
I'm getting pretty excited about this now that I've looked at getting that cheapie soundbar upstairs with the g25. I don't have room for a full 5.1 unfortunately but I am fine with having the oppo down mix everything to 2 speakers. I'm also having a variety of hdmi handshake issues since I have my Comcast input to the oppo which then is output to the soundbar and then the tv - analog output from the oppo should clean that up real quick.

Bookshelf speakers/monitors that can take a digital input?
Oh I know, if it had analog outputs it would be a no brainer but with its only output being digital (optically I boot) makes the selections a little more limited. Other option is taking the soundbar from the downstairs gt50, bringing that up to the g25, and getting some nice powered speakers for the gt50. I have an oppo103 there and it can down sample to stereo through its analog outputs, and can do volume control too.

Nate, I do have an Apple TV! And while it would work for music through AirPlay, I don't think it can take a digital input from my tv and output to the monitors. But I forgot about audio engine and they may have something I can use. Grahame, it does convert to lpcm 2.0. Dusty amd doug, will definitely take a look.

Bookshelf speakers/monitors that can take a digital input?
Hi, I am looking for a set of cheap bookshelves/speakers that can take a digital input from my tv. I just got a new gt50 for the main viewing family room which has a decent sound bar. The g25 that was there went upstairs to the living room, and the stock speakers are real bad. Would love to just take the optical out from the tv, plug them in the speakers, and be done with it. I could have swore such a thing exists but I can't seem to find it. Thanks! If such a thing does not exist, i could also do a small box that would fit inside an entertainment furniture, that would be able to take a digital in, be an integrated amp of sorts, which could output into normal speakers. Yes I know I'm asking for a lot:) thanks.

At what point will it be reasonable to arm our teachers to protect students?
<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="morphsci" data-cid="552041" data-time="1355616293">
Why are we arguing about gun control when that is not the root of the problem?

I concur.

I am a teacher. You do not want to arm teachers, trust me on this. Mental health and how it is diagnosed and treated is a huge issue in America. My school does a good job providing support services as well as identifying said students for professional consultation, and with a full time school psychologist plus an extensive student services team, I feel they are doing the best they can to identify and support students that may have some moderate to severe mental health issues. I don't know much about guns. I've lived in one of the most urban populated areas in the us my whole life in a state that already has some gun control, which i feel is warranted being in such a densely populated area. You don't want people in the city to be able to carry a concealed weapon, and Chicago has done a decent job trying to prevent access to assault rifles. Most of my friends do have some kind of pistol or hunting rifle that they keep out of sight and locked, but I think this situation is completely different and is more about the state of mental health and how we treat and diagnose it than gun control.

Well one thing is for sure it's versatile. I mean it literally does everything, other than fellate you. $1300 for that is not too bad.

System Overhaul Thread
Yeah Jon at Lowther America is pretty adamant that the older bullet style plugs have better dispersion than the newer "shower head" ones - he said the new ones actually whistle at certain frequencies. When I got my dx65's he didn't even bother asking me for a choice and just put the bullet style on them.
