Yah. He uses nothing but the highest quality wood, master grade. He is actually a big seller for a lot of the pacific northwest, but keeps the best 1% for himself.

The tonal balance is so nice I don't really notice the bass or lack thereof. I am hoping I can find a way to get these into the room more as its kind of weird having them setup the way they are.

Rics old set is in on a nice loan from ric for me to check out. I've got it setup in the most absolute God awful way but am impressed at how decent they sound! Going to try and get my rack back in the middle and these things are huge so they'll need some stands - will pick up some cheap ones later today to see how they sound with some breathing room.

I'm getting another uke built. Lol. Black walnut with myrtle fretboard and bridge. Design is a flamenco guitar scaled down to the size of a tenor ukulele.

Same - I am going with some used quads ric was nice enough to pawn off on me for a good price.

Yeah just realized that generic bH photo brand won't work, and need something closer to the sanus 31 inches. I'll take a look at my local guitar center and best buy too to see

I plan on putting bookshelves/monitors on stands for my new downsized speaker rig, and am curious what you guys are using. Sanus seems to be a good bet without being junk, though the 29.99 special from b and h photo video is begging for a shot

Doug, That devore picture, where is that from? I cannot stop laughing at the dresser cabinet, I have never seen someone label their dresser with the appropriate clothing.

Thanks to ric it appears I am going to have a set coming in soon! For now these will not be a desktop system but actual stand alones. I'll gladly take cheaper speaker stand recs if anyone has any.

Hi, I am behind about 4 years, but apparently these are nice speakers. The lowthers have a new home, and the quads should be a nice fit. At one point there was a dealer that a lot of you guys went through for a nice price, that I can't remember, but if you had another source, let me know.

No worries. A big part of what you are paying and waiting for on a Mya moe is the marketing and reputation. There are numerous quality Luthiers and custom uke builders that are not as well known (covered bridge doesn't even have a website) yet will have just as good a tone, intonation, and overall playability as the big dogs. Mya moes probably have the best resale value and they are definitely super pretty and polished with an excellent finish and build quality, but that wait is just ridiculous. I'll own one some day and I'll keep my name on the wait list and pass the time away with other ukes.

Went with that first board. It has a little bit of everything that good myrtle seems to offer - some flame, some curl and figure, and some striping. The finish will be a pore fill oil, which should really bring out the natural color and figure. Went with a Koa binding, and an abalone rosette with abalone fret markers. I went with a pair of luthiers from Oregon called covered bridge. Originally wanted mya-moe but the wait time is minimum 2 years. This should be maximum 12 weeks and getting heck of a value at $725 for a custom handcrafted uke using local Pacific Northwest wood.

I am in the process of finalizing some wood choices for a custom ukulele to be built for me, and have settled on myrtle for the back and sides, and port orford cedar for the top. Both have excellent tonal and resonance properties, and both (at least on paper) offer the right combination of a heavier, denser hardwood for the back and sides, and something light but stiff for the top soundboard. Any guitar people out there can probably chime in, as well as any woodworkers. The builder has even sent me some pics of some wood choices he has available. I like the look of this particular one for its consistency and striping and overall lighter hue (see image2) However, take a look at the board below, especially the left half, with its extravagant and bold flame like curl (see image 1) Feel free to comment. Feel free to also share your experiences working with different woods, whether it be with speakers, instruments/guitars, or in general.

Kind of off topic but somewhat related - any ukulele players out there? In my new position I teach 7th and 8th grade general music and guitar has been a big part of the curriculum in the past. Doing guitar with my 7th graders has been mostly successful but some of the physical obstacles have been frustrating for a lot of the kids. Their hands can be quite small at the age making stretching out to even the 3rd fret difficult. Chords like C and G look like they are impossible for some of the kids. I asked a local shop to loan me some ukes and God these things are so easy to play and jam out on, it's a lot of fun. Just seeing if anyone else out there has played with an uke before.

Burgers. Used fresh ground sirloin and seasoned with bread crumb as binder. Too bad we finished all or bacon though

This is such a newbie question, and I'm almost embarrassed to ask...but what our peoples preferred ways of preparing bacon? I've always been just a pan fry sort of guy but I'm sure there are better methods.

I hear you bro. A while back I picked up a set of the older cornwalls and my wife said get those the fck outta here. They are freaking huge, like larger than me huge. But if you want "the bass" from a horn, you need size.
