  1. Heh. Maybe we'll have one when those Li-ions that recharge in 5 seconds are out (2-3 years).
  2. Have a good one Duggeh, and try not to kill yourself
  3. Its free Never tried XXHighend though.
  4. Yep, I came to that conclusion after two days of trying to get it to work for me. cMP _kinda_ gives it the ability to have a playlist, but the majority of my files don't have .cue files to go with it (and cMP can't add anything that isn't a .cue). Can you also make it crash my computer whenever I try to browse for files? (cMP, ugh)
  5. Hmmmmmmmm. *counts monies*
  6. I'm waiting for their counterpoint I/V before attempting to put in an order
  7. I believe he's referring to Vince Vaughn the celebrity, not Vince Vaughn the head-caser
  8. Mmmm imploded brain Nfi, besides the fact that it eats about 3x as much RAM as foobar even when I have foobar doing the same thing (loading the entire file on RAM).
  9. Umm. Linkin Park not including their latest album though.
  10. I am doing some upsampling, but its only from 44.1khz to 48khz to avoid using the audigy 2 NX upsampler. I use the SoX resampler in foobar to do the same thing. I'm not sure I'm hearing what I'm hearing, so it'd be nice if a few more people are willing to give it a shot unlike xxhighend, this is free of charge. I just realised that I'm not using AWE - that feature only works after you enable certain permissions in Windows. CPlay loads stuff on RAM by default, and AWE supposedly "forces" windows to give it all the ram it wants, I think.
  11. *Gets straight to the point* https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=226826 Its not a replacement for foobar (only plays one file at time, doesn't support anything besides flac and wav), but I think it actually sounds better. It gobbles up 1gb of my RAM with AWE on though and the file I'm playing is only 300mb~ The main improvement I think I'm hearing is in the soundstage, there seems to be a lot more depth now, and the sounds are nicely spaced out when it sometimes gets a bit cluttered with foobar. This is where I heard about it: http://www.odysseyaudiohk.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1215105279
  12. Got the SRM-X pro today Its surprisingly well-built; the casing is made of anodised aluminium, and the colour matches rather well with the O2 (its the same colour, but darker). Even the knobs are nice and solid, which is quite a departure from the stuff I'm used to seeing in the SRD-X. Love the mini input on the front too. I have nothing to compare it with, so I'll just say it sounds okay.
  13. There aren't many worse options; the SRM-X doesn't even pull 300Vrms. Could make a portable O2 rig with it though
  14. *Joins team O2mk1 + no amp* I'm going to have run them off an SRM-X Pro I snagged off ebay... which should hopefully arrive this week.
  15. STAX SRM-212 Electrostatic Headphones - eBay (item 320353046897 end time Mar-30-09 21:04:30 PDT) Great deal for a starter rig imo. Doesn't ship outside the US though...
  16. So does anyone still think XKCD is unfunny?
  17. I have a zune 80, and the lack of flac support (and the lack of 3rd party hacks that will get me flac support) is really getting on my nerves nowadays. The SQ is fine, but nothing OMGWTFBBQ - the iMods easily outpaces it by a fair distance. *wants an ipod 5.5g + 240gb hard disk mod + imod*
  18. The Ref 1 supposedly has a custom digital filter that outperforms the PMDs et al. The PCM63 is regarded by some as one of the best DACs out there, in fairness. The PCM63's current output/output impedance is also somewhat better than the PCM1704's, so its also easier to design an I/V for them.
  19. Wahey, I did no such thing He did take it rather badly though...
  20. Funny, the High Quality setting seems to have a better impulse response than VHQ (if I understand what I think I understand about "ringing").
  21. The SR-5 isn't THAT comfy to me, since my ears are always touching the enclosure, but I suppose the SR-X are even worse. You could use the Gamma headband if it helps and if you're rich, SR-007 pads, but I remember Smeggy tried Alpha pro pads and they worked.
  22. Waaaaaaant. Try looking for a donor SR-X frame. Dead SR-Xs are far more common in my experience, and I'm sure Carl still has one. (But he also has an NOS pair of alpha pro drivers...)
  23. I don't understand the plots on the SRC comparison site, so... is it better than Secret Rabbit Code? I see a lot of lines and stuff with SRC 0.1.2 (the newest available to foobar) but SRC 0.1.3 has a cleaner looking plot than SoX
  24. The mk2 pads do fit on the mk1, right?
  25. Well, SF probably did a better job at the design of it Anyway, whats wrong with using a brand new DAC with the older one? They probably don't have to be matched (each DAC probably drives a channel on its own). I'm sure your tech could take the old, faulty chip out of its module and solder in the new DAC.
