How Risky Is It To Ship From So. Cal To Another Country?
909 replied to Augsburger's topic in Off Topic
i vote no unless the buyer is willing to send US currency in the form of a money order, cashier's check or something similar. why... Paypal only provides seller protection when a seller ships to a (verified) confirmed shipping address. Currently Paypal only confirms addresses in the USA, Canada, and the UK. Shipping to unconfirmed addresses poses greater risk such as not only losing the item, but Paypal obligating you to refund the money as well. Because of this I only ship to confirmed addresses. Paypal also has shipping requirement, which are usually cost prohibitive shipping overseas. Any item needs to have a tracking number viewable online, without one the buyer can claim they never got it and are entitled to a full refund. Certified mail or sign receipt requested or anything similar is not adequate proof, if not viewable online and as such Paypal will side with the buyer. Online tracking for overseas shipments is very expensive even with the least expensive carrier to ship overseas, USPS. And if the item is over $250 not only do you need tracking, but a signature upon delivery that must also be viewable online. Such a service is limited to Express International Mail and is very costly. Plus USPS International insurance isn't cheap either. I rarely sell overseas and never accept Paypal for local pick-up. -
thanks! let me know... the magic box is a proto phonostage from eddie current. it blew away the cambridge 640p. we've got a little ps-x800 owners' club. yes, i'll send you my email address--thank you. please let us know, your impressions of the denons carts. i considered the 103, but thought it mated better with heavier arms. great photo! looks to be in fantastic condition. do you have any sony r2rs, walkmans, or discman?

a long night of packing... bong loads

saw it on page 10 of the sm i believe. though, i wonder what other tidbits of information the owners manual holds. vacuums are great, but that's down the road. a friend loaned me another phono stage, a substantially better one, in fact, the best one i've heard in my system and my little vinyl rig has no right to sound as good as it does--so much detail and information it's utterly mind boggling. the 1k load is what i've read as well.

give me a few more days. you are lucky (at least right now) since they have 805 (moorpark) numbers available. i had to select a different area code because they ran out of 310. hopefully, they will get some more because the front gate phone only makes local calls.

got it. easy as pie to hook up. called my cell voicemail to check my messages and it worked flawlessly. made a call and sound quality was remarkably good and clear, though, i didn't directly ask the other person their opinion. granted i've only used it 3 minutes, but thus far i am thoroughly impressed.

a great source such as the $16K 808.2 makes such a substantial difference and really unlevels the field.

thanks for the updates, please keep them coming... sounds like an awesome event and everyone is having a great time.

my friend owns both r10 versions plus just got the sds-xlr. so helpfully within the next few weeks i'll get the opportunity to give them both a listen and that sp amp also with my l3000s. can't wait.
-
sony made at least two r10 variations. the first is bass shy and supposedly is overall better. then they released a bass version. driving them right makes a huge different too. i loved the r10s the first time i heard them, but my love waned after hearing the l3000s.

thank you, now i can die a happy death.

cool, another ps-x800 owner! i can't tell you how hard i've been looking for the owner's manual. no worries about mentioning other sites or even whatever around here, just feel free to speak your mind we have zero moderation with that type of stuff. i found the service manual on the vinyl engine, but have yet to find the owner's. well, i almost bought one off a guy on eBay--but backed out. yeah the nitty gritty 1.0 is a great bang for your buck unit. i got a steam cleaner. it's working pretty well and can't complaint considering i only paid $30 for it--better than nothing. i've thought about upgrading not only the interconnects, but the power cord too. right now my main priority is finding a decent phono stage that i am happy with preferably under $400 (so going used). those pesky cables will have to wait just a bit before I get cracking on it. so relieved that i got the cart squared away and now dialed in right and proper and the table is sounding really fantastic--completely balanced, articulate, and excellent PRAT. the denon dl-110 is really impressive especially considering it's a steal at $140 shipped. it's a moving coil, but it has a high output at 2.2mv or something around there.

anyone using a magic jack for their home telephone service? impressions/opinions? i am probably going to order one to try it risk free for their 30 day trial offer.

this last weekend, i bought kill 'em all at amoeba for $14 (not the 45). besides the recording being a bit low requiring I crank the volume noticeably more than usually and this particular lp having more noise than normal, which might go away with a cleaning or possibly I need to do an exchange, it sounds pretty nice and worth the $14 to me. Though, I have no clue what the original pressing or other copies might sound like, but will soon spin my redbook copy on the Reimyo.

This is intriguing, telling, and utterly consistent with how they have handled themselves throughout this whole debacle. If I gave it a theme it would be, they know not what they do. It's clear to me now that they do not think before they act, speak or write--they're impulsive and in a perpetual self-serving bias mode. Vaporizing all mention of the R10s from their website evinces a seemingly desperate attempt to make it appear as if they never worked on R10s and this pitiful situation never happened. This looks so freaking shady and it's not as if no one has those pages off JL's website saved. This is one class-act of a company and reaffirms my position that they should be avoided at all cost.

still missing their R10 reply--anyone
