  3. cooked to perfection, but for some reason that chicken still looks kind of alive! i guess it's the whole bird thing and not the chopped pieces that we're usually use to getting.

  7. be careful what you wish for...
  8. my monsoon planar speakers (MM-1000) had what some other people have reported on the net to be adhesive problems due to age/implementation, which made them buzz.
  9. no wonder, only folks with the privilege have good titles or at least they believe they do

  11. I thought about a ZYX cart, the Bloom, but went with the Denon DL-S1 since I got a fantastic price on it about 40% below retail and really like the DL-110 sound plus think Denon carts drastically outperform their asking price. Based only on my research, a cart with something around .20mv should need a phono stage with something like 60 to 70db of gain.
  12. i don't kid about stuff like this

  14. what would you do just to hear a new top tier headphone? the wait for the official release is going to be tough.

  17. sent apuresound this email a few days ago and just waiting to hear back, but also would like to hear what you guys think.. "Hi, I've got this itch to balance my L3000s by either re-terminating or possibly re-cabling them. Initially, I had thought and believed I would not re-cable these because it seems next to impossible to listen to both the stock and custom cable and then make an informed decision with my own system and ears. There have been certain components and cables I've come across that provide more energy and/or extension in the higher register, which results in premature listening fatigue. In my experience, it is rare to push the ceiling higher with finesse and refinement. Sonically this is my greatest concern, and secondarily, would be the potential of possibly losing too much weight and fulness that the stock cable seems to provide. Here's what I'd consider if I ordered a cable, somewhere between ten to 15 feet, super nylon, and not sure about what options would be available for a four pin XLR (1). Or possibly, and this is what I've been leaning towards until day, just get the stock cable re-terminated. I'd appreciate your input. Kind regards, David (909)"

  21. Steve, Happy Birthday -- hope it is a good one with lots of cheer!
  22. i've been utterly disappointed by these new vinyl releases from Metallica -- this one is noticeably better than KTA, but the vinyl is still noisy and the sound quality has an unfortunate veil and muted like quality to it. i feel like a fool as i still might buy their new black album too as it might be the best one. this is really excellent sounding -- i got the reprise pressing and it is awesome.

  25. no, not at all... i think i scored big time, though, as i didn't really know what i was buying at the time. there are two versions as far as i gather after a bit of late night research -- you want the colored vinyl one. i spent $25 plus tax and didn't even know the vinyl was colored because i decided not to have the Amoeba clerk open the LP for inspection.
