My bass is definately there, lol, I think they are in quite good nick all things considered, when I get some time though, Ill take the cover off and check it out. I am lucky, there is a well respected quad reconditioner in Perth, worst comes to worst I'll let him have a look at it see what he thinks. All in all I am quite happy, I managed to pick them up for a very reasonable amount of money (cheaper than a 2nd hand pair of o2s lol...)

So I ended up buying the quad 57's I say today. Quite a nice sound, I feel though that it lacks a bit of resolution and rolls off a bit early... Can someone explain to me what the little jumper on the back above the power LED's are? is that a voltage selecter switch?

Going to go listen to some quad esl 57's today, should be great

IT WAS YOU MINIVAN curse you. First you burn me with the sale of your kgss and then by buying those omegas! Good score, enjoy them!
-
I have no idea either. Maybe he sold it privately? Yeah spritz, looks like im going to try find a pair of 007 on yahoo auction japan once I figure kuboten out.
-
Hmmm, so its something like omega>007>007a? Interesting. Seems like the sale has vanished already though, there goes my original omega dreams.
-
haha, its ok ridleyguy you need a much thicker skin around here than on headfi. if I wasnt trying to be a bit less impulsive with my headphone spending, I'd have bought a pair just because they are oh so drop dead sexy.
-
Hey, has anyone got listening comparisons experience with both the original omegas and the omega II's? A pair of original omegas have popped up on ebay aus and its piped my interest.

NOS DAC - good match with OTL amp plus Grados?
Hens replied to DynaMike's topic in Audio Accessories
I have a "NOS" an2.1 kit and a otl amp (WA2) I use them to power my alessando ms-pro and to me they sound great. Not that the an2 being NOS had anything to do with it, but when I was just using my asus stx as a computer source before the an2 the ms-pros sounded awful out of the wa2, the sound stage was compressed and the mid range clustered and unorganised. I guess I dont really have a point, except, buy a good dac, its the weakest link in a lot of audio chains. -
Yes the AT coloration is still there. I recently went back to demo these headphones at my local store seduced by the talk of sound stage (something I didnt really listen for when I first auditioned them). I agree they have excellent imaging. Anyway, back to the colouration, there is something about At's that just sounds "artificial." I wanted so bad to like them, but in the end I just couldn't justify spending the money on them, maybe things would be different if I could listen to a pair in my own home setup, but for me, I think the hd650 does a better job all around.

Problem is people all hear differently. As far as the whole he-5le mod saga is concerned, I'm fairly sure that it was "tuned" to sound the way it did. Hence why Fang and his engineers could advise you how to "tune" it to sound more like the he-5 which I suppose is what people wanted (even though they complained otherwise)

Can we use tissues instead of tshirts? The hype machine is starting to build up on these headphones over at the other site, it really is raising my curiosity meter. I think I need to wait a couple of months for it to all die down and a couple more opinions before I seriously consider it.
-
At its price point the ultramatch is a fantastic dac, plus the headphone output is a nice bonus, even if it is a very dirty sounding. I found I prefer the "NOS" sound though.
-
There is still upgraditis, it just changes form, instead you start upgrading your amp and source, then you get bored of that and move into diy, then eventually I will toy with speakers, then I will die, such is life
-
haha, yes, I kind of figured that I just figure that it might be better to just start at the end first and save me some money for inbetween. Ive already been through enough of a "journy" on the dynamic side of things.
-
I'm guessing that if you can afford it (but not both) that it might be worthwhile skipping the 404le and just go straight to the stax O2?
-
yes, does seem a bit rich, but they added a nice wooden box to make up for the increase in price

I personally love my laser disk. On a completely off topic note, I'm enjoying the pc version, matchmaking is adequate, but definately a step back from mw1. Personally, I'd like the option at least for dedicated servers.

haha, I had no real intention of buying an rsa amp, they seem overpriced for what they are, although I've never heard one. I'll most likely avoid the hassle that comes with a step down transformer.
-
Well, I wasnt looking at anything in particular yet. I may end up going with a Woo, which has a switchable power supply anyway. But a couple of rsa amps popped up that had me interested. Problem being once I factor in the cost of the transformer, I'm not really saving alot from new.
-
Looking at 2nd hand headphone amps, since the bulk of them seem to be located in the us and suited for 110v, I'd need a step down transformer. I didn't intent to try using any relevant equipment without the use of one.
-
Hey, I'm from Aus. As such, most of our gear operates at 220-240v, which limits my 2nd hand amp purchasing options. So the questions is, is it worthwhile using a step down transformer? What are some of the cons, that I could run into?
-
Are the ms-pros getting an "i" revision?
-
Over on headfi Fang has stated that the finalised driver is "around 30ohm" and not 4. I'd be keen to try them, but can't justify buying another amp to drive them.
