  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. Anybody that knows me knows I have an unabashed love of Floor Jansen's voice. Her band, ReVamp, is pretty much like her last band, After Forever in terms of style (maybe a bit less goth metal?). Anyway, both bands suffer from a bit too much nu-metal riffing and simple song structure, but who gives a crap? Floor Jansen sings the shit out of everything. Good God, this woman can sing. Recently released album, Wild Card. Pretty obvious she had fun with this one (and threw in the vocal equivalent of the kitchen sink while she was at it!) I think it's pretty good musically, but all flaws (including the God awful cover) are forgiven because, well, you know.
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. Perhaps the word "boring" was a bit hasty, as I do very much like Black Light District and a few songs from if_then_else, so you have a point there. This new album will definitely be a day one purchase for me as well. They are ridiculously consistent compared to just about any other band these days. I cannot think of any other band that I like that are still in top form and have so many albums under their belt... especially after replacing their star singer. That's pretty much unheard of.
  5. I gotta say, and I know this is heresy, but I do not miss Anneke's departure one bit. Silje is every bit as good as her. Songs like "Heroes For Ghosts" and "I Can See Four Miles" can go toe to toe with anything Anneke has done. The band's material got to be a bit boring post HTMAP?, and Silje was just the shot in the arm they needed. That and Anneke's solo stuff just isn't that good
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. mas·och·ism (ms-kzm) n. 1. The deriving of sexual gratification, or the tendency to derive sexual gratification, from being physically or emotionally abused. 2. The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from being humiliated or mistreated, either by another or by oneself. 3. A willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences.
  8. Trendy =/= visually appealing. Beats are ugly as fuck. I'll take that to my grave; I don't care how hip they are. Ugly is ugly. At least with Sporta Pros, nobody will think you are form over function jackwad.
  9. Holy hell, that is beyond awesome! I would LOVE to be able to do that, but if the mountain faces do not do me in, my wife surely would
  10. If you want a camcorder, you should get a camcorder. Consider the one I suggested. The only logical upgrade from that (aside from a pro camcorder) is going DSLR. If you want to go down the DLSR path later (even though you mentioned tendonitis issues), you can sell the camcorder and still minimize loss. I would not consider any other path; too many compromises.
  11. I read all about camcorders right before I got one about a year ago. The ones to get were the Canon VIXIAs. I ended up with a refurb HF M40 direct from Canon when they were going EOL. The main reason was for that large sensor which is great for low light situations. My advice: get the HF M50 from here: http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/camcorders/refurbished-consumer-camcorders/vixia-hf-m50-refurbished My refurb looked brand new. You cannot do better for the money.
  12. I'm thinking about padding our playroom for our kids. Buncha weird asses... And yes, I have taken a "comfy" elevator before. I feel right at home in it
  13. Mar de Grises are breaking up, and their very last show is on the 7th of this month... in Chile... with Poema Arcanus... Shit... I would KILL to be at that show.
  14. I was not aware that there was much more than just the simple bookmarks bar. I guess that since I only frequent about 20 or so sites on a regular basis, it's not a need for me to organize that much. deepak, I am the exact opposite as you. Bookmarks are pretty much "meh" for me, but tagging media files and associated file trees are a damn religion. If medical personnel saw my OCD tagging habit, padded walls would be in my future.
  15. Broomsticks? We can do better than that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42oucm_lj50
  16. Coward piece of shit. We should have a special prison/island that houses only the craziest of people so we can "introduce" assholes like this to it. Like feeding flies to a spider.
  17. Yep, saw this on Moonsorrow's FB page. So... a good idea to raise revenue is to discourage pretty much the only source of good music these days, eh? Oh, I see... a thinly veiled nationalistic slant. And when nobody can afford to come over and headline smaller venues and have the local bands open for them, how does this help the locals, exactly? Morons. Unfortunately, it's not just Canada. I read I think it was Riverside's comments a while ago that touring the US is currently cost prohibitive in part because of the insane fees and licences involved. Such bullshit. We should be PAYING these people to come over, because it will help the damn economy and put more people to work. Jesus! I should run for President...
  18. Got my wallet a few days ago. It was a large coffee bifold version. Damn this thing is nice. A bit tight with 2 credit cards (or such) in each pocket, but it loosened up nicely. This will definitely last me a long time. My keys scuffed up the finish a tiny bit, but better that than mess up my phone in my other pocket.
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. Holy shit, Dusty! I laughed my ass of with that last post!
  21. Totally forgot to respond to this. My wife has gone on one of those trips with her friend around the Southwestern States, and she described it just like you did. I am unclear of the "turning France into a little mini China" statement? Are you saying that France is taking on some Chinese attributes, or did I misread you? As far as developing areas to mimic other countries, if the people like it, go for it.
  22. Alright, so my short backstory: I was in the market for a new, not terribly expensive wallet when I turned first to Amazon, my default search site for stuff. Nothing really caught my eye, especially when price was factored in, so I did a google search for a top quality leather wallet. In a forum I saw a suggestion for a website called saddlebackleather.com I checked the place out and immediately saw their tagline "They'll fight over it when you're dead." Oh, humor, I like that. So I went wandering around the site just to see policies, FAQ, and all that. Needless to say, the owner has quite a story, and his approach to customer service is funny as hell. Just read the Questions page. Needless to say, I am not well versed in leather wallets, but this guy has a sale in me... if nothing more than the warranty and the laughs. I assume the company is more famous for bags, luggage, and briefcases, but those are some good looking wallets. Not shilling or anything, but if you want a laugh, check the place out.
  23. Happy Birthday!
  24. Happy Birthday! Amen to that!
