  1. I've read the same thing, and the same for biscuits. But in reality how can it not help? The biscuits and dominoes are made of Beach, because it swells quite a lot when wet. So the glue not only bonds the woods together, but it also swells the Beach enough to tighten the bond further. Some 20 years back, when my Mother first moved from Alaska to Texas, to take over managing a storage business from her Aunt, I built a bunch of furniture for her apartment. Some of that was a coffee table and two end tables. I used biscuits in the joinery. After a few years she had a dog that chewed on one of the legs and she was a bit heartbroken. She loved those tables. Anyway, I decided to replace the chewed leg. The lengths I had to go through to remove that leg were incredible. I had to turn the table over, clamp the table to my work bench and beat the hell out of that leg to get it to come loose. It took some real muscle and a big dead blow hammer. So when people tell me that they don't provide any strength to a joint, I take that with a grain of salt.
  2. Great choice of words. But I think your missing an E... enTICEing
  3. I must say, you sure caught my attention with the start of that. Oddly enough, I have tried about 5 different lubes for my spindle, and that's the one I've settled on.
  4. I have a gameboard I made for my Mother. The Purple Heart is still Purple after almost 15 years now. And the Wenge stand that I made for Sennheiser is now owned by Al, and is still as dark as ever. That has to be 10 years old, if not older. Too easy.
  5. Guess I better convert from Ebony penis extensions to Wenge penis extensions this Christmas.
  6. A feast for an old Alaskan. My favorite homemade hashbrowns (bake potato the night before in microwave, chill overnight in fridge, then shred with cheese grater and cook). A smoked Alaskan salmon/cream cheese omelet, bagel and an Earl Beige.
  7. Same here. I just assumed it was straight porn anyway, so no big loss for me.
  8. You had me until Bob Vila. Bob Vila couldn't build a log with a set of Lincoln Logs.
  9. I'm constantly amazed at the quantity and quality of talented people in this group.
  10. That looks awesome Nate! Great job!
  11. She was a gay man trapped in a female body. At least as far as how her brain worked. R.I.P. Anne.
  12. I understand better than you know Stretch. I think you secretly want to wear that outfit. It's gotta cool Bowie meets Bryan Ferry vibe. I quite like it.
  13. Small, Sunday morning breakfast, with an Earl Beige.
  14. Indeed!
  15. It's awesome! And just remember how much time you still saved by not having to hand carve it!
  16. Ian, that looks awesome! Naaman, I spilled the beans about the "cutting board" today. I wanted to give Milo a chance to pick a good spot to hang it.
  17. Sustenance for two hard working cabinet makers.
  18. That is very sad indeed! Steve was an awesome guy. He will be sorely missed. I remember our trip to Hayward for some beer event. That was a really fun day! He definitely left too soon. R.I.P. Steve
  19. I think that straight edge is from Woodpeckers LGBTQ line. Though they call it a "flat edge", so as not to drive away LGBTQ customers.
  20. Have an incredible day!
  21. I build my box out of Baltic Birch plywood, then use pocket screws to join it to the faceframe. Then I use whatever 1/4" hardwood plywood matches the faceframe to make side panels. This is a pretty good reference. It's basically the same way I build mine.
  22. I've built a ton of them, but my reference is in my head. It's pretty straight forward though. I like to use a set of router bits like this to tongue and groove the stiles and rails of the face frame... I usually build my toe kick as a separate piece. Then I can level it, and set the cabinet box on top. It's really handy if your joining several boxes together.
  23. Heal up.
  24. True.
  25. You can set the Festool to automatic, plug your tool into it, then it'll turn on and off with the tool.
