  1. The most shocking thing about that is that Sean Penn has an Oscar.
  2. Sorry Bryan.
  3. I guess I'm off Cheerios for a while.
  4. I know that your spending a good part of the day driving from LA to Mayberry, but be sure to enjoy the trip!
  5. It definitely needs something to make it more aborial. We will be cutting a tree in half and mounting it against the structure. But no stocks and slings. It's not for geeks or subs, but for little tykes to curl up and read.
  6. Indoor tree house in progress.
  7. Especially when you consider the crossroads they were at without Syd. An astonishing accomplishment.
  8. I thought it was a Pokemon's commiseration.
  9. I did this early in the morning. I rinsed it, wrapped it and sealed it with the thumb of a rubber glove. Then finished out the day. It really hasn't hurt at all. Small twinge of pain when I bump it, but nothing major at all. Didn't even throb the first night, which really surprised me. I've been rinsing it daily with a very diluted water and hydrogen peroxide solution, which is what the hand Dr. told me to do when I cut it 6 years ago. I clean it and wrap it in the evening, then bag the hand when I shower. I'm following the same routine as 6 years ago and it's looking good. The only real difference is that I was about $3,000.00 lighter last time, and was forced to take two months off work. Today I framed the "tree house" at the bookstore, and had no difficulty. Plus it's fun showing the pics to all the straight carpenters, and watching them grimace.
  10. Moar pics of sexy turntable please!!!
  11. This guy builds a nice one, but damn are his videos long and dry! The work is good, but grab a beer or three before starting the video.
  12. Maybe a mortisey wooden box, To put your Morrissey albums in.
  13. No. It was my new cordless plane. Not new fangled, but new mangled.
  14. Yeah, I always forget how squeemish straight guys are. And I never remember how to hide pics.
  15. Naaman agrees, I'm sure. He just wanted to post some Unicorns.
  16. This time it was a Porta plane that jumped, but the same damned finger! Not bad enough to go to the Dr. I just cleaned and wrapped it. I know very well how to treat it myself now.
  17. He's currently serving a 16 year prison sentence in England, which may well be a life sentence.
  18. Yep. Gary Glitter follows Jimmy Savile in infamy. So many children hurt, and way too long for this to come to light.
  19. Maybe I'm ignorant to the difference, but there's a shawarma people eating these gyros at Splitrock Tap & Wheel.
  20. Have a phenomenal day, and come on back around!
  21. Uhm, yeah, again today, because they came and told me they had fresh Halibut.
  22. Swag day at work...
  23. One of the employees of the bookstore I'm working on is also an employee of HookFish across the street. I bought us both lunch, because he gets a 50% discount.
  24. It's projects like these that keep me loving my chosen career path after some 40 years. On a sad note, I received my first negative criticism from clients this week. And it was from two gay men. It was a project that I didn't have a whole lot to do with, but have been there several times to do some small finish projects and knock off items on their punch list. They've turned in at least a dozen punch lists over a few months time, even though they've been asked to look everything over and get all concerns covered on one list. They've also signed off on many of the items I've completed from those lists. Yesterday my boss Ciaran showed me a text where they actually asked him specifically not to send me to their house anymore, as many items on the list I've only made worse. Ciaran has explained to me that he believes they're trying to not pay the balance of what's left on their contract, and therefore trying to create issues that don't exist. While I know that happens, it still hurts my feelings. Not only have I not received any negative reviews from clients before, they usually sing my praises to the bosses. Ciaran told me it's ridiculous and they can fuck off. He's personally seen the work I've performed there, still I can't help obsessing over it. I feel betrayed by my own people. Bitchy, little queens! Funny enough, Kathryn, the owner of the bookstore was there when he read the text to me. She's was furious, and has been stewing over it more than myself. Several times today she's pointed out things I've done that she says are works of art. She knows that it bothers me. Stupid I know, but it upsets me that they're more than willing to smear my reputation over a few dollars that they know they actually owe.
  25. I had previously talked about the bookstore I'm working on. It's almost open for business and I thought I'd show a few of the projects. The shelves are all solid Cyprus. The boardwalk in the back is Redwood, as is the planter/benches. I didn't build the shed, but had to completely dismantle, move and reassemble it. Honestly, it would have been easier to just build a new one.
