  1. That does look fantastic!
  2. They could have, but like most of the country, nobody wanted it. They thought it was a waste of money. It was labeled Seward's Follies. But William Seward got it pushed through and President Johnson signed it in 1859. Now it's given us more oil than Texas, more gold than California, more timber than Washington & Oregon, more seafood than all the other coastal states combined and more TICE than anyone knew possible. It also gave us Sarah Palin, so doing the math we still come out ahead, but just barely.
  3. So you're telling me that robots are not completely ready to take over the world yet? Good! I've got a few more years 'til I'm ready to draw Social Security. Jeff, why did you make Texas so tiny? Oh wait. Now I realize that it's just that ATM I happen to be looking down on it from Alaska. Carry on.
  4. I'm so hetero when I'm in Alaska. Yes, that's me manning the grill. Fake it till you make it!
  5. I've been to the penis marketplace more times than I can count.
  6. Call it a learning curve. Or a learning V, in this case.
  7. Congrat Shelly! As for myself, packed for a trip to Alaska tomorrow. Going for my Brother's memorial. He passed last winter, but his wife wanted to have the memorial in warmer weather. I'm happy about that, because when I was up there for my Sister's passing 3 years back, it was Christmas, and cold, and dark and depressing as hell. I haven't been up there in the summer in at least 15 years. Actually looking forward to it.
  8. When I was a kid we had a Chinese restaurant in Anchorage named Dynasty Restaurant. The sign was lighted, but the Y was burned out. It stayed that way for years. I guess it didn't hurt their business too bad.
  9. Did you have to pay a lot of Green?
  10. Yep. I don't buy new recordings. Only used or NOS.
  11. A+ for design, but how does it sound?
  12. Watched Milo rescue what we assume was a waterlogged field mouse of some sort. We just happened to wander into Stretch's garden and Milo miraculously spotted what he first thought was a mole, in a PVC drain pipe. He was barely able to keep his head above water. No telling how long he was trapped in that pipe. Assuming he fell in while looking for a drink. Milo was able to grasp him with some kitchen tongs Stretch grabbed. He set him in a bushy area to hopefully regain his strength and resume his/her field mouse duties.
  13. Greg, it's common knowledge that the Yeti prefers fermented Yak milk. However, the Sasquatch is a lover of Red wines, preferably with truffles and fiddleback ferns on the side.
  14. No fairies envolved except the one eating. Brisket at Stretch's.
  15. It's too much friction. Your chances of burning up the motor are high. It turns out that there are some speed bore auger bits...
  16. I'm almost completely battery powered these days, but I keep a big corded drill for some tasks. Mostly mixing grout and such, but also for boring holes. This is the one I own. It's around $215. You could do as many people do... Buy one at Home Depot, be careful with the packaging, use the drill, box it back up and return it. Tell them it didn't work well for what you need.
  17. Jeff is absolutely right. An auger bit will not only drill better and faster, but it will be more efficient for the driver as well. However, an impact driver will not work with a standard auger bit, and I don't think they make a speed bore connection on an auger bit. But IMO a drill is the better tool for that job. An impact is great for many tasks, but drilling is better left to a drill.
  18. I remember thinking as a kid that the Countach must be really aerodynamic, only to find out later it was a brick, by today's standards anyway. 0.42
  19. I'm very happy to see that your house is LGBTQ positive. Fly the flag!
  20. It's pretty damned good!
  21. That's what happens when you let a 7 year old design a truck.
  22. Agreed. I'm so tired of Grey and Silver. The dream edition has a Eureka Gold that's kind of nice. I wasn't very enamored with the styling when I first saw it, but it's growing on me. Even if it does remind me of a modern Oldsmobile. I also did not like the styling of the Mercedes EQS, but after seeing one up close, it's much better in person. Both have a 0.2 drag coefficient. Crazy good.
