Probably won't do it silently.

I just talked to his ex and close friend Craig on the phone. It seems that last Tuesday the Dr. informed him that the chemotherapy wasn't working any longer, and that they were stopping treatment. He lasted a week after that. His Mother passed a few months ago, and in a way I'm glad. That would've been extremely tough on her.

R.I.P. Shaun Kitka! I met my friend Shaun in 1996. He was 18, and he a several other young gay guys were leaving an underage dance club in downtown Anchorage, just as I and a friend were riding past on our bikes. He and his friends were immediately physically and verbally assaulted by two larger and older, homophobic assholes. Nothing gets me to a rage state faster than homophobic bullies! I dropped my bike and grabbed the biggest guy and started telling him what I thought of him while poking my finger into his chest quite aggressively. Two cops that were at a flop bar next door came up and pulled me away from this jerk and started detaining me, when Shaun explained what had happened. One cop actually acted like it wasn't a big deal that young gay guys were being hassled, which further pissed me off! However, the second cop was having none of that bullshit, and after explaining that putting my finger in his chest wasn't allowed, he basically ripped the two bullies a new asshole. Shaun and his friends were very thankful for my intervention, and insisted on buying me breakfast. We all got to know each other, but Shaun and I became good friends immediately. I became a kind of pseudo Father figure. I introduced him to a long term boyfriend, and later actually moved in with him in Sacramento after that relationship ended. We got along well, but the new boyfriend didn't understand our relationship and was crazy jealous. To the point of being mean to my dog Suzy. I couldn't have that, and that's how I ended up moving to Fairfax the first time, in 2014. It did strain our friendship some, but we did manage to keep that friendship alive, especially after he told me about his cancer diagnosis a few years ago. He called me on a regular basis. I think that he could share his fears and his hopes with me in a way that he couldn't with his boyfriend. And I think the length of our friendship provided a degree of trust and familiarity that he didn't have with anyone else. He never knew his Father, and in many ways he looked to me for that kind of relationship. I also knew his entire family, as screwed up as they were. I last talked to Shaun two weeks ago. He sounded great. Things were going well medically, and he was really excited about a new flight simulater he was putting together. I just read about his passing today on Facebook, so it's a real shock! I've been losing siblings the last few years, and that's tough, but Shaun was 42 years old, and that's different. I had some time to prepare with my Brother. This came out of nowhere!

Very well said. Also, Sammi Smith helped inspire Kris' 'Why Me Lord'. She invited him to church one morning, where he had some kind of deep soul searching experience, and went home and immediately penned the song. I think Nashville would have been a fantastic place to be in those days. One of the singers who sang many of Kris' songs back in the day, is one of my favorite vocalist... Ray Price had an amazing voice, and I was lucky enough to see him in concert in Corpus Christi. He was 81 and hadn't lost his vocal abilities at all.

Your dining room table must be getting very lonely.

The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post

I have no idea what a bong is. I was never exposed to such hooliganism. But if you did buy it and want to relive the glory days, I hear that filling it with Peppermint Schnapps cools the throat, and may have been a popular thing to do in the 70's. Obviously that would just be speculation on my part. -
Nice! Did Jeff make that sign?

You can never be too sure with a guy that'll eat roasted squirrel tail pound cake.

And I first thought that was prosciutto. . Although I guess that you could make prosciutto from British people?

Had dinner with Dorothy and her Mom. She ordered what I thought was a gyro. Turned out to be the California version of a gyro, which has some kind of ground meat, salsa with peppers and it's on a tortilla. Awful! Call the damned thing a Greek inspired wrap or something else. It is not a gyro!

You gents with the CNC routers can make one pretty easy.

Uhm dude, your tortillas may have gone bad.

There are generally 3 different types of crown molding. 38, 45 and 52 degrees. The Kreg jig has a tool to allow you to check what your particular spring angle is, then you set the jig to that angle. It simply holds the molding at the correct angle as you cut. Without the jig the crown tends to move slightly while cutting. A slight discrepancy can become a big gap pretty quickly. You still turn the crown upside down to cut. The hangers are new to me. I just discovered them, and since I'll be working alone, they'll make holding the crown in place so much easier!

I'm definitely not a coffee aficionado, but I have recently grown fond of iced coffee. I finally got my measurements correct for making my own concentrate. Makes it simple to make a great iced coffee (usually with Irish creme) at any time.

I regularly snap bands at my local HD. I have some crown molding to hang tomorrow, so I bought a few helpers...

Wow, what a similar morning we've had! Except for the bike. And most of my miles were between the couch and the fridge. But other than that...

It looks brand new! Grizzly makes a decent tool. However, I see them new online for $1,995.00.

In an odd way that may have been a good thing. I've known a few people who've been injured from old, badly maintained power tools.

I'm not sure it'd classify as an upgrade to most, but my favorite jigsaws are from Bosch and Makita. I'd recommend a barrel grip style for curves.

To the theme of Sesame Street... "Shitty Festool jigsaw" One of these words is not like the others. One of these words just doesn't belong. One of these words is not like the others. Tell me now, can you guess which one?

You'll be better off posting an ad asking about broken headphones. I'd also post on that other headphone forum.
-
Yes. Buy some broken or janky headphones that you like the sound of on ebay or such. You're better off scavenging drivers than finding stand alone drivers to buy. Which brings to mind, I've always wanted to hear K1000 drivers in an over the ear headphone body.
