  1. When do you attend the next rally?
  2. I was gonna say how straight guys are obsessed with breasts, but yeah, bakery got back!
  3. Oh shit! R.I.P. Loretta. She made some incredible music. But didn't take herself too seriously either.
  4. I learned much of what I know from watching Norm. I truly feel like I know the man. I did have the pleasure of having lunch with him and Steve Thomas. The company I worked for in Alaska set it up for me. They knew what a huge fan I was. And they got me on the panel at the Home Show, and the luncheon with Norm. I set across from Norm and next to Steve Thomas. After 10 minutes or so I got up the nerve to throw out a zinger about what a premadonna Bob Vila was. That got both of them laughing and we spent the rest of the lunch making fun of him. Great fun, and a day I'll never forget. He is getting old, and it makes me sad. It's hard to believe he's at the end of his career, and I'm not far behind. Time goes by so fast!
  5. I'm actually getting a little choked up, watching Norm get choked up. I can't believe he's retiring. I remember watching TOH, from the very first episode, back in '79. Norm was never supposed to be on camera, but in episode 2 they needed him to explain a few things, and he was in front of the camera every since. Truth be told, Norm is more responsible for my career choice than anyone other than my high school woodshop teacher.
  6. At least that's something that you'll never see.
  7. Will there be any Charlie Chaplin/Edward G. Robinson Jrs. there?
  8. Not a bad idea. I used to frequent cabinet shops, where they would give me remnants and sink cut outs for free. Once Ebay came along, they realized they could sell these. But the smaller remnants ate generally inexpensive.
  9. I would make that into a turntable stand for Colossus, big time!
  10. Hardwood. 3D printed composite Kevlar plastic if you're going to use multiple times.
  11. Please inform me on that pan. Can't tell if that's non stick or cast iron.
  12. Wait until you see his kitchen cabinets! And he's built them to easily take with them if they move. That's really smart to me, because I get really attached to things that I build for myself. Mostly because I don't get the time to do that often. I'm not generally a huge fan of Oak, but there are exceptions. White Oak items in a modern or Craftsman style, and now that English Brown Oak! I think it's been a couple of years since Doug introduced it to me, and I immediately fell in love with it. It is so rich and gorgeous! I really hope that someday soon Doug, Al and myself can work on a project together.
  13. $200 is pricey as hell for a router bit, but if it cuts nice I think it'd be money well spent.
  14. Ah, I hadn't noticed. Sweet! Who is the maker? Ah, I hadn't noticed. Sweet! Who is the maker?
  15. Not to make you feel bad, but I used Al's Hammer combo to joint the White Oak for the railing I built recently, and Jesus is that thing just a pleasure to use! The resulting edge is perfection too.
  16. I really want to get a nice set of downward spiral and upward spiral flush trim bits. I love that you don't need to worry about grain direction and chip out. I have heard that the closer you cut to your template first, the better the routing results. Which is just good practice even with a common flush trim bit.
  17. I want to take a moment to encourage another woodworker to post more pics of his projects here. I'm privy to pics of many of Doug's projects. Doug's work is probably the most impressive to me of all of the woodworkers I know personally. And he's only been doing it for a few short years. His perfectionism is what drives him on, and it certainly shows through in his work. I think that can be a blessing (not you Ric), and a curse at the same time. Projects can turn into year long endeavors. And lots of joinery is scrapped as not up to par. I certainly don't have the patience to meet the criteria Doug not only aspires to, but usually achieves. I'm not sure I've expressed to him that he's one of my favorite woodworkers, as well as one of my favorite people. I just wish he would share more of his work with all of you. It's truly impressive!
  18. My hat's off to my favorite scone mason!
  19. I remember when I first saw the video of Nothing Compares 2 U, I thought she was a very beautiful woman. Today the only thing I recognize is the haircut. If you told me that was a picture of an old Russian peasant that toiled all hers days in the sun, I wouldn't know any different.
  20. I can only assume others with the same model have had this issue. Surely there's a forum where someone has found a fix? I've never had the room for a bandsaw, so have no real experience with the day to day operation
  21. Jeff, Home Depot has steel bar stock in all sizes. They have 3/8" bar stock that you could cut to the length you need.
  22. I've always wanted to make wooden diffuser panels to put on the wall behind my speakers. It's art that serves a purpose.
  23. A damned expensive fire too!
  24. RIP Coolio.
