  1. You're only saying that because I poo pooed your ERS paper thong project.
  2. First I tried a wax product made for lathes. It looks like a semi sweet chocolate bar, and you rub it on the project as it's spinning, then buff it down with 0000 steel wool. I didn't care for the glossy sheen it had. I'm more of a satin finish kinda guy (no bling bling), so I went back to my tried and true 5 coats of hand buffed lacquer. It is nice to be able to sand the piece on the lathe though, and you can get a pretty good finish, but I still think a little hand sanding with the direction of the grain is needed for a museum quality finish.
  3. It's just you.
  4. Hah, it really does. Let's hope it makes a spicy headphone stand too.
  5. So I set up my lathe last night, and was itchin' to get to it today. I had a piece of East India Rosewood hanging around in the shop, and with nothing really in mind set out to make some wood chips. What I ended up with will probably end up as a post for a multi headphone stand, most likely with 4 hangers attached to a hub mounted to the top of the post and a round thick base at the bottom.
  6. Actually if I saw that guy on the street I doubt I could stop laughing long enough to be offended. I want my worst enemy to be reincarnated as that guys jean shorts. ewe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God they didn't show the front, because you know that guy has serious male camel toe, and his balls have to be hanging out.
  7. That's me damnit, be kind!!!
  8. Thanks! They remind me of a smaller version of your old Omegas tyrion. I saw jp11801's ad, but I haven't heard any single driver speakers yet, and I wanted to dive in small. If I like them I imagine eventually I'll end up with some larger Cain & Cain's. Although with my powered subs these may make me very happy? I only just came to an arrangement with the seller on A-gon, so I won't have these for a little while yet. That's fine, because my ?22 is at Marc's getting super tweaked. I have never heard any single driver speakers, so I can only guess as to what they may sound like. just thought that from everything I've read I may really enjoy them.
  9. NSFW link Just for you buddy! For the rest of you I apologize profusely! Changed it to a link. -- Dusty
  10. So you're a squeaky pyro?
  11. Double Bubble FTW!

If memory serves philodox made a pictorial of just that on HF. It's relatively simple though. Once I took mine apart it was kind of self explanatory.
  13. The gentleman does nice work then, and his prices are extremely reasonable. He must have a very efficient setup in his shop to keep the labor down.
  14. Damn! His prices are great!
  15. In this case it's a cosmetic choice, as both are sturdy hardwoods. I would no doubt favor the Cherry for it's rich beauty, but then again I've just never been a big Oak fan.
  16. I just don't find that guy funny, and wouldn't be the least bit surprised to read about him being arrested at a grade school playground. I guess it's just me though.
  17. Actually back in the day when I had an exceptional ass, those showed it off to the nth degree, and girls could tell your religion. Most girls seemed to love them at the time, but as usually happens they seem ridiculous later. Makes me wanna put on some Duran Duran.
  18. I'm not really a big CD3000 fan, but these aren't your average CD3000. These badboys have BASS! They still have the detail of the stock CD3K, but they're not as treble heavy. I like them better than the DT990 600ohm I used to own, and the bass is better too. Alex's V2 cables, yumm. Unfortunately my amp and DAC are being tweaked by luvdunhill, so I haven't had the chance to hear them in my main rig yet, but my preamp balanced outputs are driving them just fine for now.

  20. Well that's the good part, it was on sale for $199.00 from $319.00, and shipping was only $12.00. "To everything turn, turn, turn. There is a season turn, turn, turn." Here's my dream lathe. One day! http://www.lagunatools.com/pinnacle.htm
  21. Just when I start to get depressed because I live in Texas you guys make me happy I don't live in the frozen North any more.
  22. It's a benchtop model, but it will do just about everything I'll need. It'll take 24" long stock and up to 9" in diameter. It's not a variable speed, but it should suffice for now.
