Mark half of the problem is that you're speaking to us like we aren't aware that what we say is noticed. Like we haven't had contact from manufacturers and the like. We're well aware. I fully understand that I could act a certain way and gather the interest of many companies to review there products or even find my way onto the payroll. I think most people that have written reviews, have a high post count and are noticed in the community have had some of those offers. I just don't choose to go down that road. I want this to be my hobby. I own a business that pays me quite well. This is where I go to dump the stress of running that business. In this hobby I want to be completely free to say whatever I want about a product. I understand that might have some ramifications to others, and I play pretty fair. I never crap on a product just for the sake of entertainment, nor will I sing praise that I don't really believe any given product deserves. Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming you do any of these things, I'm just saying that's how I feel about getting involved in reviewing companies goods. Well to start with Nate has never seen that build. And furthermore although he's an excellent builder he'd hardly call your work truly awful. It's a clean build, and a sweet amp buddy! I know exactly which amp he's talking about and who built it. I don't think the builder hangs out on HF anymore, and probably for good reason.

I think I'd definitely go all out and go for the 6 board configuration if I planned on using SE much. You'd never have to worry about upgrading either, you'd have the best balanced and the best SE amp going IMO. I'd suggest two sigma 22 power supplies in a separate chassis.

I share your sentiments about the charge for the mods (as already stated), and I really have no feelings about the D5000 in any way. The mods might be spectacular as far as I know, and I've never posted anything even slightly negative about them in any way. Really I had no feeling about them at all. What did get my neck hairs standing on edge was when I tried to voice just that same opinion and back him up on his business practices. Only to then discover him trying to trash Duggeh, Head-Case and everyone who is beneath him, because they aren't the celebrated reviewer and all around super important guy that he is. The man slammed others for not reading what he posted, only to commit those same acts himself. He even jumped down deepak's throat when he was defending him. It was an insight into how arrogant the man truly is. I got sucked in further than I should have, and I always regret letting myself be led there, but I still stand by my opinions. I just wish I'd been a little less hot headed and a little more eloquent.

Hmmm, maybe in a custom vintage audio case? I know that naamanf recently took on some builds (and you'd most certainly get more than your moneys worth there), but I don't know if he plans to do any more. I'd recommend the builder of mine, but I'll let him chime in himself if he has any interest. I here Nate's not very busy though!

I kind of got the gist of it from the other posters, and the "bitch slapping" comment was purely in jest. I did understand soon after that you were actually complimenting my phones if anything, I was just puffing my chest for dramatic effect, and being silly.

I've never spent any real time with one, but I've owned several Sony ES units, and the reliability factor was very, very good.

I had mine built for me, as my skills with a soldering iron are sadly much less than my skills with a table saw, and those are questionable. I picked a builder who wasn't offering his services, but who had built one for himself successfully. I thought it might help us both, as he might get some deserved attention, and I'd get a nice amp without the wait of the well known builders that were swamped with work. That worked out exactly as planned, and was a very pleasurable experience on my end at any rate. I have projects and plans with other builders as well (I kind of like collecting gear from people I admire), but also have a current project in the works with the builder of my ?22. That speaks to my satisfaction with our original projects.

I feel the exact same way. I came in defending him. And I still stand by that as far as charging for the mods. He came in with an attitude about HC though, and I tried to politely offer a few insights into how to approach this site. I was all thinkin' he was a decent enough guy getting a bit of a bad rap. Then he kept spewing more and more self grandeurizing vomitus, and I just couldn't stay silent. He should definitely learn to come in and jab, then dance around the ring for a while, but most self important assholes never learn when to shut the hell up. It was an eye opening experience, and in the end I'm glad I got that peek into the real markl.

Now I'm really bummed I didn't take the time to hook mine up to the Zana at the last Dallas meet. By the time I got around to it he had already loaded his gear up.
