  1. Yeah that sounds like a good idea. So is your arm pod going to be separate from your plinth?
  2. I'd give you advice, but I'm 47 and single so...
  3. I think my dream rack would be suspended from the ceiling, but that would be a rather permanent addition.
  4. Can't wait to see it after the impregnation process!
  5. Thanks for all the nice comments! I really love the rich look of Wenge, and the masculine color. It is kind of similar, but it
  6. I just finished making the Wenge trim piece to overlay the damaged plinth on the Mitsubishi LT-30 that I bought a few months back. I'm happy with the way it turned out. There is a very slight lip that I milled that covers the top edge of the plinth where there were a few chips. Most of the damage had been at the corner of the plinth where something had struck it and crumpled the MDF. Here's a couple before and some afters...
  7. I'm pretty sure those are plugs.
  8. Wenge! I'm finally going to trim out the Mitsubishi turntable.
  9. The half lap joinery and plugged screw holes are a surprise to me at his prices. It's not worth me taking the time to make my own when he offers such nice work at such affordable prices.
  10. Very nice! These are definitely on my list. The Cherry was a great choice!
  11. Yep, agreed. You may as well do it right while they're there.
  12. Ooh, I better get my list of Chinese audio equipment ready to pass onto you then! It should be no problem for you to hunt down everything I want while tending to the youngsters.
  13. While I definitely fall into the "overkill as a design philosophy" category, I can't see a reason for the sealed headphone stand, unless of coarse it's going to double as a cigar humidor. And that might sell actually.
  14. Yes, a great point. Not saying you did, but so many people try to save money by skipping primer, when it costs them more in paint. Of coarse if you're painting over off white walls with another neutral color it's not necessary. Also get your primer tinted the same color as the paint. It won't be as dark as the paint, but it helps a great deal and doesn't cost any more.
  15. I think a plexi cover would be cool, but honestly would the rubber seal and latch be overkill? We're just trying to keep dust out, not micro organisms, or am I missing something?
  16. Sounds like a good excuse to buy new tools to me. There's always a Silver lining!
  17. I really like YourMusic.com All single CDs are $6.99 w/free shipping. Double albums are twice that and so on. You only need to commit to buy at least one CD per month.
  18. Happy Birthday!
  19. Just want to say that even with the bad rap on the parts in some of the VD cables, the VD Power Three that they gave away on a limited run is not a bad cable at all. I don't really care if it is stuffed with peanut M&Ms, as long as it sounds good. Would I pay $300.00 for it...no! But it's on par with some of my other decent aftermarket power cables. My favorite is a Grand Enigma cable that I bought from a HFer at a reasonable price. I don't like to pay more than $50.00 for a power cable, and I don't think it's necessary either. Warrior05 built me several of them at less than $40.00 ea. (almost entirely parts cost), and they sound every bit as good as the VD. That being said the VD and all of my other power cables do sound noticeably better than your average stock cable.
  20. Ah sweet Jack, it fits inside the dust cover just as we hoped it would. On this one I decided to mortise the pillar into the base. The mortise is slightly smaller than the pillar, and the pillar was slightly eased to a tenon just to the exact hight of the base. The base also carries over that same counter arch from the top. It's hard to see in these pics, but it runs the width of the base just to add a little more interest. I also decided to use stainless steel Torx head screws on the back to hold the pillar to the base mortise, and to hold the hanger at the top of the pillar. My thought was that this would make it easy for Jack to take it apart and wrap each piece individually for easier packing, should he want to pack it for meets or future moves. Of coarse the screws are countersunk and actually add a bit of flair IMO. The Omegas really are worthy of an important stand, and they look great on there Jack!
  21. That may prove tough, as I'm usually the first to draw attention to my freaky sexual practices and immoral behavior.
  22. OK I'm now feeding the phono stage into my Consonance integrated, and on to my Omega Grande Six/UFW10 subs combo. This TT officially kicks ass! Man it's been quite some time since I've spun vinyl, and I'm definitely hooked again. Also I had been using the TEC TC760LC, but I just switched to the Hagerman Bugle. The TEC is a nice unit, especially considering he price, but the Bugle rips it to shreds. Thanks Nate!
  23. From what I've read Jim, the IVY is a pretty nice solution.
  24. Hey sweet! Thanks again! I had entered G2 instead of G-2.
  25. Bummer, that would've been sweet.
