So in my recent trade with antonyfirst on HF, Tony sent me some extra felt to play with. He sent some really dense Purple felt and some Blue Cashmere felt that he'd had great success with in the NAD RP18. He sent other felt as well that I haven't tried yet. Before damping the NADs I wanted to get really familiar with them, so instead tonight I redamped my Chocolate Donut MkII. I used the dense felt at the back of the cup followed by the Yamaha Yellow foam, then the Cashmere Blue felt next to the driver with a 1/2" paper reflex dot centered on the backside of the Blue felt. Let me start by saying that I've always fealt that Skylab's YH-100 based Strawberry Donuts had a bit deeper bass than mine, and I was never quite sure why. Well now I've definitely picked up a little deeper bass with this redamp. From memory I'd say it's about the same as Rob's Donuts. But the surprise was the added sparkle in the upper register. I have to think the reflex dot is responsible for this. I think this redamp is a raging success, but I was saddened that I had used too much of the Cashmere felt to be able to use it in the NAD redamping when the time comes. However after a quick search on the net I found a fabric store selling a yard of Cashmere felt for $5.95. Yes Cashmere felt! It's some closeout sale, but the good news is that I can't possibly use anywhere near that much myself. So once it arrives and I'm able to judge it, I'll have plenty to pass along.

I'd have to say the Yamaha YH-1000 would be closest to the OII. The YH-1000 has better bass however, but it's all mute because a pair just sold on ebay for $1000.00. That's just looney IMO. I bought them new in '82 for $150.00. I'm going to try this new Cashmere felt that I got from an Italian member in my YH-100 based Donut soon. I think I'll also try a reflex dot to bring the highs out a tad more. I'll have to get Marc to let me try his OII pads on them, but I absolutely love the L3000 pads on them.

No, not at all, but disappointment is a valid response when your order had been accepted and you thought you had a K601 on the way.

Damn nice looking build! That's the Audrey Hepburn of amps... classy, well put together, impeccably dressed and not at all overdone. Congrats Vicki! Well maybe not all of them.

I still have two pair myself that I haven't used yet. Thanks though. They're supposed to be very good Fitz, you should use them.

Hey, you're not supposed to know me that well, get out of my head.

I couldn't pass that up myself when I saw the thread on HF. I have no need for them, but the price was just too good.

Sadly it should have been the OP.

I'm about to pull everything out of the oven in an hour or so. I do all the cooking on Thanksgiving, and I love it. About 20 people over here this year. Happy Thanksgiving!

So are there no comments on the Buffalo? I'd love to hear what others think about this DAC. My impressions are rock solid, but it's always fun to compare them with others.

Set the last piece of interior trim on my year long Community Center/Museum project. It's nice to see this one finished. Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association Recognizing a unique history of land, sea, nature and people

I pretty much mirror your thoughts here. I was very impressed with the Woo6SE, and don't really care where it's made.

Nice introduction. We like that a whole lot more than a first post trying to sell something. Take Nate's advice and get up to speed. We're a bit different around here, but a great bunch. Welcome!

Reminds me of a funny joke. Boy walks by two old codgers fishing. Boy has a roll of duct tape. One old guy asks "What ya doin' with that duct tape son?" Boy replies "Goin' duck huntin'." Boy walks on, but returns with a duck under his arm an hour later. Next day same codgers fishing when the same boy walks by with a roll of chicken wire. "What ya doin' with the chicken wire son?" "Chicken huntin'." An hour later the boy comes back with a chicken under his arm. On the third day the two old codgers see the boy walk by with a bundle of pussy willows under his arm. "Wait up son, let us grab our coats, we're comin' with ya!"

Happy Birthday Jay! Wishing you Key Lime Pie and Bloodwood in extreme doses! In honor of your Birthday I wanted to send you something, but in all honesty it is used. We've used it for 8 years, but have no further use for it. Would you mind waiting until January 21st?

Sweet! That's much more desirable to an IEC plug IMO.
-
So I'm assuming that the other end of the PowerCon cable is a standard US three prong wall plug?
-
I know that you'll have absolutely no idea where I got these from.

^ Super size this be aaatch!

Well just to be sure I'm interviewing these two tomorrow.

Well you have plenty of fans on this site, but unfortunately most of us blow hot air.

It's coming, it's coming! Man I need some helper elves!

Hmmm, why didn't I think of that? No this will be straight grain Maple, not your lovely Quilted Maple.

All the materials to build a nice Maple sand box, anti resonant turntable platform. It's not for me, but someone else here. Should be fun.
