And I'm hoping that his plan for that is far short of socialism. That remains to be seen, but again I do feel hopeful and I'm looking forward to a term of enlightened change. I just can't help some skepticism with any candidate. Rounding the bend toward the big 5-0 has much to do with that me thinks.

I think we need to be more careful pulling the race card out here. Do you really know your fellow members well enough to make this assumption? If the candidates were both the same race there would still be a heated controversy about each of them...there always is. I for one have doubts about Obama's experience, but I remain hopeful and welcome a change. I also believe 4-8 more years of the same economic strategies would be a big blow to this country. Although seeing first hand what she did for Alaska in such a short time, I'm a big Sarah Palin fan. That's right Bubba, that's what I said! As for race, I won't say that it made no difference to me. That would be a lie. I don't consider myself a racist, but we all have some prejudices that are nurtured from a very young age. I believe that understanding that and owning up to that is the only way we're going to be able to start to change our own inherited, unwanted, senseless ideas that skin color is a valid reason for fear or hatred. My hesitance in fully supporting Obama stems not from the color of his skin, but from his lack of experience and his "share the wealth" ideology. That wreaks a little of socialism to me. Socialism as an idea may look appealing, but in practice it's always been a disaster IMHO. I'm sure that some will still think me a racist just because I'm not waving an Obama flag overly enthusiastically, but in truth had Condoleezza Rice been a Presidential candidate I'd have been the first in line to vote for her. I'm an aging cynic who's been lied to by too many politicians to ever get overly enthusiastic too quickly these days, but I will support and respect Barack Obama as my countries President until given sufficient reason not to.

Couldn't agree more! I've listened to a lot of DACs, and owned some winners, but this DAC still floored me. We're talking leaps above the cost of build, in terms of SQ.

Aristaeus came and went on HF.. lasted 20 minutes

As long as they're stabilized no problem, otherwise they'll curl up pretty quickly. I look forward to even such a small role in such an incredible project. I beg to differ Sir. I'll take organic bling over metalic bling any day of the week! -

Justin, if it's no secret what Burl is that. It's gorgeous! -
He asked me to go ahead and open the case up to have a look when I couldn't get a lock with my digital cable, so I'm sure he'd want you to open it up and have a look.

It's how your tits look that really matters.

I've discovered that most trim reacts well to a special tool. Holy shit! I think I was channeling aerius there.
-
Yes please. I'd love to A/B it with my Consonance SUT.
-
Will do. For the record however I have a Zu modded DL 103 Grade 1. It's a nude cartridge style w/resonance control, but I'm not sure if it's the same type of resonance control that is used in Denon's 103R

Opera Audio Consonance PM-3 step up transformer. I need more gain.
-
Can't wait to really listen once I change the necessary resistors in the Pearl. The Consonance PM-3 should arrive tomorrow.
-
That worked Marc. It's dialed in now.
-
Massive huh, that can only mean one thing...you added the T-50 to the package! You're a great guy Marc! Most people wouldn't give up such a nice headphone so generously.

Inverting the switch settings for 45 RPM is way too slow. The motor barely starts spinning the platter at first, and it's closer to 33 RPM than 45.
-
OK, 45 RPM is at 5.70V and 33 RPM is at 5.02V.
-
I'm on my way to dinner, but will try inverting them when I get back.
-
With one lead removed from X3 I'm now measuring 5.21 V for 45 RPM and 4.55 V for 33 RPM. I'm sure that removing one side at a time for the Pearl will be easier to deal with anyway.
-
The knob detent for 33 RPM is right smack in the center at correct speed.
-
OK I got the VR1 dialed in at the 5.75 V I had measured for V1. The speeds changed for sure. I'm still able to dial in 33 RPM with some adjustment left at the knob. 45 RPM won't quite get dialed in at this setting though. However knowing that I can revert back to moving the jumper if needed, I'm going to leave it as is. I'll be playing 33 RPM records 99.99 percent of the time. That was fun BTW! Am I an official begginer DIYer now?
-
With the meter in the Ohms position at the 200 mark I got a reading of 65.6 Ohms. I guess I'm not understanding you correctly here, because if I remove one of the motor leads at terminal X3 I don't have any power to run the platter at 45 RPM. What am I missing here? Oh and BTW My jumper at JP2 was already connected to pins 1-2 (in the right hand position). Not sure if this significant.
-
OK, These switch settings work beautifully. I can dial the 33 & 45 RPMs in perfectly, and still have plenty of adjustment room at the knobs.
-
OK, 33 rpm measures 4.96 and 45 rpm measures 6.49. I hope that tells you something meaningful, because it sure doesn't mean much to me.
