  1. OK I know I'm going to incur the wrath of the SciFi sect, but what the hell is a Dalek anyway? Is it from a movie?
  2. Another way to go that I've also wanted to build is a direct drive turntable. A custom plinth could be built for a Technics SP10, SP15, SP25, or one of the Denon drop ins. That would just require a tonearm/cartridge and you're in business. Don't forget that a build like mine also requires a motor/housing & speed controller. All told with phono stage and cartridge included, I've got about $2000.00 invested in parts and materials. I think a good direct drive table as mentioned above can be built for about $900.00 in parts and materials, depending on the table chosen. I'd also be very happy to help you along the way with any information or ideas I can give you.
  3. I've been curious about the ShamWow, or any man made shammy material. I found that thick, dense felt worked quite well for the YH-100, but not sure yet what will work well on the T50RP driver.
  4. If memory serves I paid $200.00 new. It could have been $150.00 though. I would think half of that would be a pretty good deal. I remember hearing the 500s at CompUSA somewhere around 2000-2001, and they weren't anywhere near as nice. I'd hold out for the 702.
  5. I weave the underarm hair of polynesian fisherman. They must be between 24 and 37 years of age for the best effect. And I find that if they've used roll on deoderant as opposed to gel the highs are better.

OK that's it...now you're embarrassing even the other Canadians!
  7. Actually Wualta that is the set I had. The Black plastic and the screens are exactly the same. I wasn't aware they made so many models.
  8. I approve of Smeggy's approval of Dusty.
  9. Sure, it's not going anywhere.
  10. I'd talk to Mark Schifter over at AV123.com. AA was his company, and if he can't source any AA I2S cables, he can sure give you some pertinent info on compatible cables. I wouldn't be surprised if his Perpetual Technologies I2S cable uses the same pinout. There is a forum there that should prove quite useful in answering your questions.
  11. Hmmm, this guy seems familiar.
  12. Wow Teddy almost looks alive there, must be an old picture.
  13. My first computer speakers were the then top of the line Monsoons. Can't remember the model number ATM, but they were a really nice sounding pair of speakers. Ah, it was the Monsoon iM-700
  14. Wow, great job on the cleanup Andy! I think letting Alex take it from there is a good decision. The man does awesome work.
  15. I think it's been updated to Tuesday!
  16. And thus a new signature was born.

    Bearback sex is so dangerous!
  18. Did you buy the steamer or Richard Simmons?
  19. Very nice Fitz!
  20. It really is too bad, because the quality is really outstanding at that price point. I would have kept it, but my rig change really necessitated a front loader that I could put in my rack.
  21. When Nate bought that kit it arrived with a torn box and parts leaking out. He had to try and figure out what was missing without a bill of parts. He had quite a time building it due to less than perfect instruction translations IIRC. Hopefully they've worked out the kinks. They were supposed to introduce a higher end transport, but I guess that got canceled. Too bad because the drawings were very cool.
  22. Yes, I agree. I'm a big fan of my HD580, and with the foam mod it's less dark too. I need to spend a little time with a 650 again though. The Beta22 should really improve what I heard the last time I had one. I think the cost of the X-10 is about as high as I could justify, with as little time as I spend with a portable rig. I can't even consider adding a portable amp into the mix. Happily the X-10 doesn't seem to really need one.
  23. I've owned stock ER4Ps and I had the P-S converter cable as well. I've also spent a little time with Tony's APS recabled ER4P. I agree with the midbass bump, but it's not overexagerated. It does lend a bit fuller sound, and I happen to like that. I'm also getting acquainted with the Klipsch Image X-10. It's a completely different flavor than the Etty, but very nice so far. It's tilted a bit toward a more uephoric sound. It's an IEM I think Senn. 650 fans might like.
  24. I've always wanted to work on a circuit in Posh Spice!
  25. Pars, I have a 1.2 sitting here gathering dust. If you're interested PM me, I'm sure we can come to an agreement.
