  1. I finished flush mounting the drivers in some speakers I'm making for a nerd friend. The guy he hired to do it with a CNC machine couldn't hack it, so his second choice (the lowely Dr. Wood) was called in. I think my nerd friend wanted to help, but I'm trying to get as much done as possible before he visits this weekend. I'm sure he'll want to check everything with his slide rule before proceeding, so I'm getting ahead of the game first. Now I'm just waiting on my new soldering station to arrive so I can do some "sissy woodburning" on the speakers. Hmmm, I'm thinking a big portrait of Devine on the sides.
  2. Hmmm, me thinks me could build a housing for the Heil-O-Dome. Let me know what you hear back from your inquiries Squire.
  3. That's enough outa you Smeggy Nine Fingers! Who goes there?
  4. Come on Smeg, give us the whole story, embarrassing details, blood, bouncing digits...don't leave anything out.
  5. Oh he is sooo pushin' it!
  6. Thanks Marshall, I ordered one too.
  7. DAMN! Justin those are incredible Sir! Your design sensibility is right on the mark IMO!
  8. Mappa Burl and Maple Burl look extremely similar.
  9. I smell earcups! yummy!
  10. Cool, what are we having? I'm fond of tenderloin medium rare. Maybe some fresh asparagus and blue cheese mashed potatoes? Perhaps a nice loaf of rosemary bread? And some fresh brewed ice tea with a hint of spice. Ooh, and a nice italian creme cake for dessert. But far be it from me to interfere with the chef's menu.
  11. Damn those are pretty!
  12. Which one? Woo sent a bunch of amps for us to audition. They were quite nice.
  13. Yeah exactly. I was too embarrassed to ask who the heck the guy on all the avatars is. I was afraid it was someone I should know and didn't. So I PMed Fitz to ask him who it was, and he led me to the relevant threads.
  14. You missed my point. I was refering to actual flames dancing out of the vent holes on the top of the amp. Not little whimpy flames, big hot dog roasting flames! Houston Head-Fi Meet 10/25/2008 Impressions - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio
  15. If that notice were from Mikhail I'd say congrats, you're only a year or two away from getting your amp. However the fact that it's from Justin real congratulations are in order. We demand pics immediately upon arrival! Wait, Ray's not two people already?
  16. Just catching wind of the goings on here. What a major fucktard! And to think that asshat owns a pair of Donuts! I gotta find the remote for that build in self-destruct mode. Big props to Fitz, Ingwe and Mike for callin' him on his shit.
  17. So I've ordered most of the parts for my build, and they're trickling in. I orderd two of the F5 Fairchild version parts kits. Two of these mammoth heatsinks... All the connectors, switches, IEC, fuseholder and an Alps pot (going to try adding the attenuator, as my build will be mainly a headphone amp for my K1000). Antech toroid, 4 huge frickin' caps, and a chunk of copper for a cool point to point power supply luvdunhill is working up... A sheet of 3/16" aluminum for the bottom and back plates (the front will be wood), and some perforated aluminum for the top plate. Plus most of the other incidentals. Looking forward to getting started.
  18. There are a few of us building this amp, and at least two of us that have taken this on as a first project, so I'm thinking a thread is in order, since I'm sure that there will be some discussion and questions.
  19. Gotta agree with Nate here on the over-generalizing. Plant me firmly in the dual chassis crowd on certain applications.
  20. I cut aluminum sheeting for the bottom panels of my wood cases.
  21. A small toroid and some little caps for my upcoming Pass F5 build.
  22. Oh trust me, the β22 can put off one hell of a glow. Just ask luvdunhill.
  23. Nope, I'm totally cool with whatever timeframe it takes. The only downside is all the money I keep spending to update the look. The latest being stunning looking volume knobs from Justin.
  24. Happy Birthday!
  25. Hmmm, really glad to hear you like them so much. And I'm very glad to hear how they sound with the Beta22. Once my Beta22 revisions are done I'm sure that will be my main amp for the K1000.
