Happy Birthday!

The Plasma TV arrived yesterday. By the time I got a friend over to help me set it up on the wall mount it was pretty late. I did watch part of a Blu-ray movie however, and even without any setup on the TV or Blu-ray player, it was pretty awesome. Today will be spent setting up and dialing in the TV, Oppo and receiver. There's a lot to read first.

Sounds promising. I'm in no hurry yet though. I still need to decide if I want to build a real surround system again. Last I played around with them was late '80s - early '90s, and video was the weak link then. That's certainly not the case now. Will do. I keep hoping to see a delivery driver pull up. The TV shipping was free, but no tracking.

I have two AV123 UFW-10 500 Watt active subs. I'll use one of them in the 5.1 system. The other will be used with the ERM-1s. If I end up upgrading to the Emotiva setup, I'd most likely buy a 15" sub.

Just an entry level RX-V365. If I get interested in home theater again I plan to upgrade to Emotiva's Pre/Pro, 7.1 Amp and speakers. The little Emotiva ERM-1 speakers I bought for my desk arrived yesterday, and I'm very impressed. Fit, finish and SQ are unbelievable for a speaker costing $149.00 ea. (sale). But as you can see from the pics below, I really don't have room currently to have speakers on stands. Yes, this setup is in my bedroom. That's where I like to watch movies. The Plasma will mount on the wall directly above the Red speaker box, and be tilted downward. I'll be moving one of my powered subs over to this system too.

Uhm, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just from ASR's judgement. I like them quite well myself.

I have one long run at 15'. I won't know how that will look until the TV arrives (hopefully within the next week). But this sounds like a good solution if the current setup is unacceptable.

I think when you reach this level of amplification it's more about different flavors than better or worse. It's more about picking the amp that best fits your overall system, or your taste. At this level I think most amps are going to be pretty resolving and accurate. The β22 is very neutral, which for me works very well.

I've not even powered it up yet. My plasma TV should be here soon, and I'll put it through the paces then. I definitely will try it as an SACD player, but probably not until my Beta22 is back in my system. By then I may also have the Buffalo32 DAC as well. No problem. It looked promising until I read the last part. I guess all of the HD units replace the satelite HD receivers? Is there an HD DVR that just loops through like an old VCR?

It states it does not work with satelite TV, and I have Dish Network.

It absolutely interests me. Carly is a real power singer, and this looks like a really good fit. The "Idol" relationship that really interests me more than any would be Adam Lambert as Queen's new frontman. If that should work out I'd be all over that first album.

So these have shown up, and have been installed. They're easy to install and clamp like a son of a gun! You could drag your piece of gear behind the car by the HDMI cable, with this thing installed!

These are for my computer desk. Eventually I'll be building some monitors for my audio rig, but no hurry there. The Omegas were a bit large for my desk. The voice of reason. Also just picked up Apocalypto, Pan's Labyrinth and Bullitt on Blu-ray.

They're mostly intended for home theater use I think. A third could be set horizontally for a center channel. The price was so cheap I had to give them a shot, and yeah I figured the design scheme would be Dusty approved.

Nice looking case Gary! I'd cut out all the metal under the tile. That couldn't hurt to make sure you get enough ventilation. Once mine is recased the full top will be perforated aluminum.
