  1. I've often dreamed of opening up one of the up for auction storage units in my Mom's self storage facility and seeing a sight very similar to that. Hasn't happened yet. They just get prettier every time I see them Justin. Now go take a nap.
  2. And one I've heard next to nothing about. Can't wait to hear some impressions. I'd expect a SF DAC to be pretty worthy indeed.
  3. Holy sonic euphoria Batman! Now that is something that doesn't come around often. They're gorgeous! Congrats.
  4. If you're implying I should build Duggeh a BHSE, sure you bet. I'm ready for it! No shit! I'd make Smeggy look like Nate, Naaman, Marc and Amb all rolled into one comparitively. I will assume to prefer the opposite of you my friend, as we've already discussed, although I have never heard the two side by side. And only briefly listened to Pete Millets early version in a meet setting a few years back. That said, don't forget that I've already solved the bass issue via your help (or is your old UFW-10 the one in my 5.1 setup?).
  5. Oh, well no use in me getting one. It'd end up screaching like a car alarm with my singing.

Well it didn't turn me off, but where the hell am I going to find an architeuthis?
  7. It's always surprised me a bit that you haven't thinned the herd a bit to finance an uber amp for the O2. You've made it clear that it's pretty much your top can, so what's you reasoning for not doing so? Or do you simply like having the variety of headphones that you have? That was not meant as a criticism at all mind you, just a curious inquiry Squire.

I about shit myself when I saw the price of said trim kit!
  9. What is it Marc?
  10. Actually I was never impressed with the K1000 in meet settings, and fell in love with Bahamaman's O2/ES-1 rig at a Dallas meet. But spending several months with the O2 (granted with a KGSS) changed my opinion. I bought the K1000 just because I found a really good deal at a time when they were going for insane prices. I knew I could easily make my money back if I didn't like them. And I ended up loving them.
  11. Maybe Slacker got the model with built in Gold Disco Chains...
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. That's good to know then, because it was just a weird beast all around. And yes on the amp. Yes, what did I type? Oh I bet I typed zero, oops.
  14. That's completely understandable. I happen to be able to crank the volume at any given time, and you'd think that would have me using the speaker rig most times, but I actually prefer the K1K to my speaker rig ATM. Only due to the small room I listen in not being suitable for a good speaker rig though.
  15. Now here's the voice of reason. I always knew you were an incredibly intelligent guy. BTW, a balanced Beta22 and a Buffalo32 will be my K1K system soon enough.
  16. It was a Sigma Pro IIRC. It belonged to plaidplattypus, he had the older HeadAmp stat amp, don't recall the nomenclature. I'd love to hear them on a BHSE, and plan to spend a little time with Marc's at some point. I had his 02 for a lengthy bit of time too, and I really didn't care for them with rock. Though the 02 does female vocals probably better than anything I've heard.
  17. I agree about the treble being slightly extended. That's something I prefer in the K1K. Good news to my ears. I can't wait to sit down for a long session with my K1K/β22 once it's back. I've only heard great things about this combo. You owe it to yourself to listen to the 02. I agree with everyone's assessment of it's technical merits, I just find it too dark and uninvolving myself, but I do tend toward a more lively sound sig. Passion over perfection I'd say. I'd love to hear the HD800, especially on my β22. Maybe Al (pabbi1) will help me out with that in the near future. Well I do find them to be extraordinarily resolving, fast and very accurate, it's just the overall signature is not my taste. I would have kept my mouth shut until you rated the Sigma over the K1K. That's the strangest sounding headphone I've ever heard, and I have to chalk that one up to extreme stat fanboyism. I think that musical preferences also need to be mentioned here. I find the 02 much more suited to classical & orchestral music, while the K1000 can venture over to Classic Rock, Blues & Country (yes I said Country) with a better outcome IMO.
  18. I would agree that the 02 is probably the more technically accurate headphone, however the K1000 just has more characteristics that are pleasing to me. I enjoy their more forward signature, their more speaker like presentation, and at least in my late production pair, their more tipped upper midrange. As for bass, I tend to augment my K1000 with an Onix Rocket UFW-10 active subwoofer, and I really like the accurate, visceral bass that setup can achieve. I doubt that kind of 'out of the head' type performance, with bass you can feel as well as hear, would be possible with any supra or circumaural style of headphone. This is not meant as a screaming endorsement for the K1000 though. I can certainly appreciate the merits of the 02. I'm simply implying that it's somewhat of an apples to oranges comparison. An apples to oranges comparison that was a thoroughly interesting read however, and I expect an even more interesting listening event. Thanks for the write up Deepak!
  19. Yeah, My balanced β22/Donut MkII combo was awesome. They really do need the power, and I think even more importantly the neutrality of an amp like the β22. Great to hear you're happy with them. I hope your neighbor Duggeh gets to hear them with your amp one day.

OK, you've gained some major cojones points with me there. It's not just any man that will admit to liking a Partridge Family song. One of my first albums was The Partridge Family, and I can still remember all the lyrics to "I Think I Love You".
  21. Yes, but you need all that room for the bodies in the basement. Duggeh, what amps are you considering if these make the cut?
  22. Spent the entire day flat on my back in bed. When I woke up around 5:30 am, as soon as I stood up the room started spinning, and I felt very nautious. Same thing a few hours later, and until just about 30 minutes ago. Found out later from the school nurse that several kids have had the same thing, and that it lasts about 24 hours. Not feeling 100% yet, but much better, and no spinning. You're a nice guy Colin! Can I call you in about 30 years?
  23. Happy Birthday!
  24. Wow, from almost selling them to ranking them over 650s. What made the difference for you?
  25. Jeez, that didn't come off as pompous or anything. I'm not sure how you can make that determination from the pics posted. You can tell nothing of the depth of the room from them. Or how far the room extends off to the left for that matter. It looks bigger than most living rooms I've had, and I've lived in North America all of my 48 years.
