Hmmm, not being a big action/blockbuster guy I'm not sure I totally agree. I purchased the BBC Planet Earth series on BD and it's absolutely fantastic. I consider it a reference disc. Also I own Apocalypto and Pan's Labyrinth on BD, and those are also just incredible as compared to the DVD counterparts. So really I consider movies with really good cinematography as a great choice for BD. Also great soundtracks, as BDs audio is far superior to DVD IMO.

Nice place! Colin, don't judge all K340s on that particular pair. That pair is the polar opposite of my old pair. I had them with me for a couple of weeks, as Alex sent them to me after he recabled them. I made the wooden trim pieces for a different Matt, who owned them at the time. I also found these to be muddy, with an odd midrange coloration. I assumed these were what people refer to as the bass heavy version, but they sound nothing at all like the pair I owned for 27 years, and I did plenty of direct comparisons. As for the K1000, toe out can definitely help to tune them to your taste, although I tend to like the treble. I also am quite fond of using them with an active subwoofer. It's an experience that's hard to explain. Much closer to speaker presentation than any headphone can come. I'm still kicking myself for not buying them back when they were first introduced. They are my ultimate headphone.

The Oppo BDP-83 analog output sounds amazing indeed! I've yet to purchase an SACD, but I do have plans to try it soon.

I would seriously doubt that Dolby Headphone would be output to the analog outs. It would seem more reasonable to get a long cable and connect your WinDVD output to the receivers input. Anyone else have any suggestions?

As the owner of a Bonfire β22 I must say that I don't believe the amp itself is to blame. In my case it was an unfortunate set of events in a meet setting, with too much going on around us. Before that the amp was stable as a rock for nearly a year. It's a damned fine amp, and I can't wait to put mine back in my system when it's finished being rebuilt. Gary I'm really sorry to hear about your issues. I must say that I don't think this was a good project to cut your teeth on though buddy. Hopefully you can recoupe some of your money.

I happen to like the Super Zeros, at least for what they are. A sub is most definitely needed however.

I am so damned impressed with Emotiva's little ERM-1 speakers that I'm definitely planning on buying their UMC-1 and UPA-7 amp at some point. The sound and build quality of these speakers are so far above their $149.00 ea. price tag it's not even funny. I just hope that their electronics hold that same build quality. We haven't heard any negative comments from Mike about his ERC-1 though. And his recommendation in this thread speaks to the quality IMO. I want him to buy a pair of XPA-1s, so we can hear about them in detail. Hurry up Mike!
