  1. It's a strange, strange world! Sure the YH-100 can be a good headphone, but IMHO you came out on the very best end of that trade. I remember when you could find the YH-100 for sub $50.00.
  2. It's always so hard to lose a beloved pet. It always puts me in a funk for quite some time. Sorry about your loss.
  3. I guess you'd better get it right the first time then.

    Doggy thread

This is my buddy Fred... Fred is 1/2 Shih Tzu, 1/2 Lhasa Apso, so naturally I refer to him as a Lhasa ShihT. He is very intelligent, and a really great companion.
  5. Mmmm, that looks like a good start toward Eggs Benedict.
  6. I have heard Soundlabs in an audio store environment, and they were quite lovely. The reason I didn't recommend them is because they're usually pretty pricey, and they're damn hard to drive, as has been mentioned. If you can supply a grunty amp however I think you'd be very happy with them. Let us know what you think of them.

    Speaker Porn

Can't we all learn to live together? Those are stunning!
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. While they're not true electrostats I'm going to have to agree with the Apogee recomendation, and in this country a good used pair is easy to find. And on that same line my next recommendation would be a used pair of larger Maggies. Through the last few decades I've heard Quad, Martin Logan, Sound Lab, Iminent Technology, Magnepan & Apogee. The Apogee and the Magnepans always just sounded right to me. It seems you're geared toward the Quads Douglas, but you really owe it to yourself to try and listen to the other offerings before making such a big decision. If buying used through A-gon or whatever site you may just be able to audition the speakers beforehand. Anyway that's my two cents worth.
  10. So the Denon AVR-1910 arrived today. I have a lot of reading and setup to do, but right out of the box (well after using the mic to automatically set all the speaker parameters) it sounds pretty damn good! And the HDMI cable is carrying audio and video. This seems like a really nice receiver. Things have gotten very complex since I last had a surround system (1987-89), so it may be a while before I'm getting everything out of this system. But just having Blu-ray play in 5.1 is a big step forward. Thanks for all the help guys! Fitz, wanna fly out and tune my system for me?

    WILD PACIFIC

I've been watching this on HD, and it's really good so far. This kind of programming really makes a 50" plasma worthwhile!
  12. Marc coming from you that's one of those things we just take for granted, so the statement is unnecessary. As for power cords. I've tried many of them, some fairly expensive. I've come to the conclusion that for normal lengths anything over an Iron Lung Jellyfish is overkill. I just couldn't hear any difference.
  13. There's always the ghetto route. Just put a teenage male and some porn mags under your couch. You'll be shakin' and rollin'!
  14. More like this... Buy Vacuum Veneering Kit with Pump and 36" x 54" Vinyl Bag, Vacuum Veneering The last thing I need is a bigger penis! Not that it gets a lot of use, but it's overly sufficient in the size department. And I'm sure all of you were dying to have that much information about my dick, but hey he started it.

  16. Ed there's always the B&K Reference 70, However it's around $3000. Then there's the Integra DHC-9.9 for $2000.00. It's going to be hard to beat the Emotiva XMC-1 though, and I believe it's retail is going to be around the $1000.00 mark. And just check out the features... Twin Cirrus

They're gorgeous! I've never seen Orange kittens without tabby stripes.
  18. Not to mention they can be had for as little as $148.00 ea. USB Microphones, Stereo Microphones, Preamplifiers, Digital Recorders, Cables and more at Rock Bottom Prices from The Sound Professionals - Great deals on Microphone, Preamplifier, Digital Recorder, Cable and more!
  19. No it isn't necessary. I use what's referred to as calls in the trade. Nothing more than flat stock just slightly larger than the piece you're working on, then a couple of 2 x 4s on top of the calls. This gives you a thick piece of stock to attach the clamps to, and the calls distribute the pressure more evenly. Rollers only tend to work well for me if I'm using some form of contact cement, but I prefer to use wood glue which needs to be clamped to adhere properly. The vacuum systems are better at distributing and applying pressure, and can be used for more than just veneers. Yeah, I've been researching them for a while now. Luckily the cost is coming down. I'm sure I'll own one soon. Buy Vacuum Veneering Kit with Pump and 36" x 54" Vinyl Bag, Vacuum Veneering

The island I live on has tons of stray cats. At around 5:00 you can drive around and watch all the businesses and private citizens putting out cat food. I feed about 5-10 cats myself. They keep the snakes away, and they're safe from coyotes inside my fence.
  21. Agreed, and don't even get me started on Mel Gibson, but the cinematography is really good.
  22. I could analyze that dream for you, but I need some important information that was left out. Namely how many times did Tyrion's gear change during the dream?
  23. That couldn't be further from reality, unless he's gained a hell of a lot of weight since the old HeadRoom ads.
  24. Nice! Now you'll need a nice case.

I dream of finding scumbags like that in the process of beginning a crime like that. It would be worth jail time, if a jury so decided.
