    HT Upgrade

Yeah, good point Dusty. That was the factor that ultimately brought me to the Plasma. My bedroom is nice and dark. If I were to set one up in my living room, I'd go with LCD, due to the brightness factor. Also, even the new Plasmas like the G10 series still put off a fair amount of heat. Enough so that I upgraded my window unit air conditioner.
  2. I'm trying to resist for Dusty's sake, but you're makin' it damn hard!
  3. Just finishing up a big pot of Pinto beans. I like just salt and pepper for seasoning, a big onion diced up and tossed in before cooking and real ham hocks are a must. I soak my beans overnight, so they cook up in just a few hours. We eat them Southern style, with the beans and juice piled on top of fresh baked cornbread. Should be ready in about 30 minutes.
  4. When you look like this in grade school, becoming the class clown isn't one option...it's the only option.
  5. Wow! Even through the baby doll wig?

    HT Upgrade

Having just recently built my own HT, I've done a lot of research, and came to the same conclusion...The Panny G10 series was the best picture for the dollar I found (and one of the best at any price). I bought the 50", and the largest size available is 54". I also wanted relatively flat speakers I could hang on the wall. Not finding what I wanted in my price range, I made my own by building a flattish box approx. 7' wide x 14" high x 7" deep. Then I purchased in wall L, R and Center speakers and cut the baffle accordingly. I used pillow stuffing in the box, and it mounts to the wall with threaded studs mounted to the wall studs (that way I could hang it on the studs while I attached the nuts and washers). I made a similar, somewhat smaller box to mount on the ceiling for my surround speakers (in ceiling, round speakers with rotatable tweeters). But just mounting them in the ceiling would be a great choice in most situations. The box and speaker grills could even be painted to match the wall for an even more stealthy look (high wife approval factor).
  7. Chicks dig scars. Wouldn't it be fun to put subliminal flashes of meat loaf in it?

    He got Maggie pregnant?
  9. Meh, Sometimes it's just easier to not make waves.
  10. Well you may very well be right. I'll put it through it's paces at some point. I need to finish the faceplate flanges.
  11. Yeah, I have a working DIY Pass F5 up at Marc's place. I've yet to hear it, but I need to get up there and bring it home to try at some point. I do expect that to be a step up from the Opera, especially now that I have the Luminous Audio passive preamps. I bet the 300B is lovely, but that's in the $5000.00 range, yes? Taking my current K1K rig over to a friends house in about 45 minutes. He is a non audiophile, but he has listened to some of my gear for a few minutes here and there. Never the K1K yet though.
  12. Several of us own them, and there seem to be many differing opinions on amplification. So I thought it might be fun to see what people are using. Post about current or previously owned K1K systems you like. ATM I'm driving mine with an Opera Audio a120 integrated. That's really the only amp I've used thus far, but the plan has always been to use the Beta22 once it's finished with repair and recase. Even though I've little to compare it to, the Opera is a quality unit. I've heard that a good 300B amp is a fantastic mate for the K1K, but I doubt I'd ever spend that kind of cash. So what are your favorites?
  13. I pride myself on that very ability.
  14. My favorite Allen wrench set is made by Husky (Home Depot). They will replace any broken wrench in store, no questions asked, just like Craftsman. The piece to the right is a handle for more torque, and also slips inside both sets of wrenches for a nice hanger. I've had my set for better than 10 years now. Husky 13 Pc. SAE & 13 Pc. Metric Combo Flat-End Hex Wrench System - 12206 at The Home Depot They do have an identicle ball end set as well.
  15. I could probably bike there and back in 7-10 days.
  16. Foam degeneration is no laughing matter, and should be taken quite seriously! Foam degeneration almost cost me dearly in 1986.
  17. Strips are no match for my snoring at all. The strips ran away and cowered in the corner. If snoring were an Olympic event I'd easily break Michael Phelps' record for most Gold medals.
  18. I need a special one... On the front: I like woodies On the back: Lace 4 Eva!
  19. If you brought a cookie & cupcake carrier to my house and I found out there were no cookies or cupcakes, but instead Grados, somebody would be lookin' for an ass whippin'. That's false advertising. Not unlike pulling down a pair of panties only to have a dick flop out.
  20. Yes. I'm just curious to see it implemented. Naaman and I have discussed using it in a Buffalo build. Ultimately I decided that keeping the build simple will be better for me, but that hasn't stopped my curiosity.
  21. Unintentional pun points!
  22. I is believe not in them findings!

    slow forum

Once. I was 13 and found a stash of Hustler magazines in the woods. Unfortunately I didn't find any lotion.
  24. And the boots really complete the ensemble.
