  1. Edgy, harsh & shrill come to mind, and the β22 is none of them. My warm comment needs to be taken in comparison to the β22. I certainly would not call the Krell a heavily colored amp by any means. When A/Bed against the β22 however, the more warmish, slightly lush signature is noticeable. I hope you're not taking this as a negative comment, as the Krell is a gorgeous amp, and quite seductive.
  2. FIFY. That's quite nice of you to offer. We'll have to talk.
  3. The very brief time I had my K1000 plugged into a 300B amp was nothing short of astonishing. At some point it is my desire to find a nice pair of 300B monoblocks. If I can find a worthy pair for under $3000.00 I'll be going down that road sooner than later. As I find the K1000 to be fairly neutral, and the β22 is inarguably neutral, I can understand the desire for a bit of warmth and color. In the end I happen to really enjoy a fairly neutral system. If you'd like to add some warmth though, I'd highly recommend doing so with a nice vinyl spinner. To my ear a good vinyl rig pairs extremely well with the neutrality of my amp and K1000.
  4. Probably all of us old timers, as this was a common practice in the day. We called it breaking in the speakers then, as the term 'burn in' was not yet coined to my knowledge. An out of phase driver still pistons and creates noise. I hate to be the one to tell the Emperor that he's naked, but this burn in stuff is getting out of hand. The speakers will break in nicely with your current technique.
  5. I have four relatives with missing digits, all on the maternal side. Two from carpentry, one from Viet Nam and one from industrial machinery. They check my hands every time we see each other. You Sir are on a roll! Who's Sally?
  6. The β22 is definitely the more neutral amp here. That being said though, the coloration of the Krell is a lovely color indeed. It's a very full, warmish and somewhat lush signature. Bass is a bit deeper from the β22, but it's not a night and day difference. Going back to the β22 from the Krell almost makes the β seem a bit dry at first. Need lots more time, but no doubt that this is a fine amp, and a worthy choice for the K1000.
  7. I have to admit that this worries me slightly, as Marc really has very little experience with shop tools. I plan to head up and teach him all the safety points once he gets his new table saw and bandsaw though. I'd really like him to keep all 8 fingers! On the other hand, once he get's the hang of it we can have some real fun!
  8. Today it happens to be a Krell KAV-400xi. This is an amp that Marc purchased with the idea of driving a future K1000 with. So I'm test driving it for him. Just got it hooked up and making ♫, so impressions to come later. I will say it's a different presentation than the β22 though.

    Godspeed Naaman!

    Excellent idea grawk!
  10. Naaman ships out tomorrow, back to Iraq. Just want to wish him the best of luck, and a safe deployment! We're all wishing you a speedy return, and we want you home in plenty of time to be there for your new daughters birth! Keep your head down!
  11. Oooh! That is very, very nice!
  12. Normal? I beg to differ. A baby elephant that listens to teeny bopper, bubble gum music on way too expensive gear, is anything but normal. Powerless? Of coarse! And it's not wise to taunt the man with the big ass shovel.
  13. ^ So then what you're saying is... The rain in Maine falls mainly down near Lang.

    Speaker Porn

    His own private orchestra?
  15. Dinny I'm sorry to hear that. Can't that be quite debilitating? Or is that just if it goes undetected far too long? You meet the nicest people on a Honda.
  16. Starting with the one in the wallet. However I'd be more than happy to help provide test projects for said mill.
  17. I'd be checking into a blessing for your home about now, or at least feng shui.
  18. That is so flippin' nice! I can hardly wait to hear what you have to say about how it sounds. Just awesome!
  19. Sorry to hear about all the rain guys. I won't mention that it's beautiful and sunny down here ATM, and bikini clad Spring breakers are everywhere. Oops, I guess I just did mention it, sorry.
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Damn Haj! Did you piss off Poseidon? Hope you get it resolved soon.
  22. My Mom picked them up actually. He's playing in an outdoor arena in Corpus, and I like the venue. I've always liked his music.
  23. Tickets to Clint Black, April 9th.
  24. Built and installed cabinetry for an R/V. It has one of those toy haulers in back, that they've turned into a bedroom for their two boys. So the boys needed storage and a desk. The desk slides out on full extension glides. The Black portion of the upper face will be where their small LCD TV will mount on a swivel mount. There is also another access hole around on the right side. Fun project, and the little sluggers were thrilled. Sorry Haj, wish I were there to lend a hand.
