Yep. It seems as though they used an oil or wax finish. I would most likely deconstruct them to apply a sturdier finish. Probably a multi coat Tung oil based finish. That would also allow me to copy the wood housing with one from Ebony, Cocobolo or something a bit more unique.

More than I had hoped. I now will need to compare my dBel84 tuned, N_Maher cabled, smeggy created, Macassar Ebonied Thunderpants, before making my final decision. I imagine it's safe to assume there will be at least one pair at CJ?

I actually like the L & R placement, and the screws can easily be replaced with techier ones, though I have no issue with them. I love the fact that they used mini XLRs for the replaceable cables.
