Solid state will work better with small children, and for me low power, well built, great sounding gear means PASS. Although I bet numb's recently sold M22 would also have been a great choice for amplification.
It may be old school, and there's a lot of newer stuff out there, but I've been feeding my pets Science Diet for decades now (since '87), and I'm very happy with it still.
Actually, the idea he has in mind sounds really promising to me. The thing is, you can't be absolutely certain how it'll work in a particular room until you try it, but my guess is it'll work great. Sorry for the clandestine posts, but I'm sure he'll let the cat out of the bag soon.
