That is great news Tyll. Now I can look forward to some meaningful and non-biased impressions. Probably won't buy due to price, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to hear what they have to offer.

Just give it time. It generally takes about a month to adjust to a memory foam bed. Don't get worried if it makes you sore before that. Smooth sailing and much less tossing and turning after the break in period.

Yep, my thoughts too. That's really good stat territory, and I doubt they've improved enough to compete in that segment.

I've got an HP G56 laptop (no digital out), and I'd like an easy (read cheap) solution to route all of my iTunes music into my DAC. My Adcom GDA 700 DAC has toslink, S/PDIF, and AES/EBU, but no USB. Is there an outboard soundcard of some type that would work well for me? Or another solution that is cost effective, as I do plan on getting the Cambridge iPod dock at some point in the near future, and won't need the laptop at that point. I'm not up to date on CPU based music systems.

I've been a fan of two way monitors + sub for quite some time. I think that the M&K speakers of the early 80s struck a chord with me. IME, for music a 10" sub is generally the best balance of deep bass and speed. I have a hard time imagining that a 3" sub can reproduce enough low end energy, but I've been mistaken plenty of times before. I've always wanted to build a credenza style cabinet that would incorporate 2 10" active subs. One which my components could sit on top of. A custom cabinet could be built in almost any configuration, as long as the internal volume is tailored to the woofer. It could even be built into the back of a CD storage case, side table or curio cabinet. BTW Don, thanks for the package. I'm still discovering the music therein!

I've heard good things about the Eastwood powder coating kit. You'll definitely want to purchase a separate oven for this, as the oven can no longer be used for food after powder coating. The good thing is that used ovens with burnt out stove top elements are usually had pretty cheap.

Just so you don't get the wrong idea, normally I'm all about letting people come out when they're comfortable doing so, but fuck it, I'm outing this guy! See the expression on the guy behind the rider? Where the other guy looks miffed, if not actually a bit stand offish, this guy is giving that come hither look. Oh don't freak out, I'm talking about music. As many seem to do as they get a bit older, I seem to be getting a bit stale as to new artists. I thought a thread where people could toss out some recommendations might be handy. As for my musical taste... as far as genres, nothing's really off the table. I'm not a big fan of Rap, but there are exceptions of coarse. I think the Bluegrass-Rap that opens up the series Justified is brilliant. I love, love, love great female vocalist. Alison Krauss, Nora Jones, Alison Moyet, Billie Holiday etc... I also love great male vocalist. Buble, Brian Ferry, Tony Hadley, Freddie Mercury, Ray Price etc... I like Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock, Alternative, Country (especially classic country, Cash etc...), even some Bluegrass. Classical music is on the table, but on a more limited basis for me, as I love lyrics, and a good story. Though Spanish guitar is always welcome. When I do sit down to listen to music I generally want to be soothed, so really Heavy Rock is not really my thing. Just to clarify, I don't put Zep., Priest, or Ozzy into that category.
