  1. I had an earlier Zamp with less power, and I was pretty surprised at the power it had. It drove some 92dB two ways easily. But to be honest I don't ever listen at concert levels. No doubt that the 90-95 rated WPC of the units in mono would more than satisfy your needs, in the worst case scenario. But I imagine a single unit in stereo would do, if you're not into rattling the windows. Either way, still relatively good budget/performance factor. Plus they come up on ebay regularly. The Zamp was also a badass K340 amp, didn't have the K1000 yet.
  2. Wow, good thing you didn't get drop and french mixed up!
  3. Havin' dinner with NoNoNoNoNoNo?
  4. I think the ZampV3 would manage the task. Nice little amp. You could always buy a second one later and run the pair in mono, for double the power.
  5. Ditto. RIP Davy!
  6. Wait, I didn't hear you talk about any gear blowing up. Are you sure Al was there?
  7. I'll save you Nell!
  8. Yeah, and the Pencil Dhiks came to mind too.
  9. ^ This just proves there's always a sensible answer at Head-Case.
  10. The real problem is modern technology and those too stupid to know when not to use it. You can drive by nearly any jobsite today and see some idiot using a power tool while talking or texting on his phone.
  11. Heh, he. Heh, he...He said recti-fying.
  12. Yeah, she's next in line.
  13. Careful Shelly...your thunderpants are showing.
  14. No, not at all. SawStop tables have a sacrificial aluminum cartridge that absorbs all the damage. And replacement is about $80.00. SawStop tables are not only safer, but actually quite well designed tables. I plan on having one when I set up a bigger shop.
  15. Point taken, and agreed.
  16. Generally speaking Ken, sticking filler into an orthos cavity makes a noticeable difference for better or worse. Also pads make a big difference with orthos.
  17. Happy Birthday Naaman! Dude, you've got some small feet!
  18. He just wants you to use Scotch, and not the sparkly Hello Kitty tape.
  19. Awesome!
  20. A giant congrat! I had to sort through and find my biggest one.
  21. Keep us posted Crappy.
  22. Just before his Dad burned him with gasoline, but a while before he started teaching middle school.
  23. To me the ear is the final word, and almost every good active I've heard has impressed me in some way. The Genelec 8040APM has been a favorite two way for some time. If the Airmotiv6 can come close at about half the cost, then I'd be sold. Al's ATC monsters took the concept beyond my imagination, as I've mostly heard two way 6 1/2" active monitors. I also love that you eliminate the speaker cables with active speakers, as I think running longer interconnects vs. longer speaker cables is more favorable. That may just be in my head, but it sure costs less in general.
  24. Well I'd love to see a serious effort from Thiel. And if Magnepan could develop a great ribbon headphone...
  25. As headphone sales exceed speaker sales by a fair margin these days, I look for more speaker companies to set their logs in this fire.
