  1. Careful Shelly...your thunderpants are showing.
  2. No, not at all. SawStop tables have a sacrificial aluminum cartridge that absorbs all the damage. And replacement is about $80.00. SawStop tables are not only safer, but actually quite well designed tables. I plan on having one when I set up a bigger shop.
  3. Point taken, and agreed.
  4. Generally speaking Ken, sticking filler into an orthos cavity makes a noticeable difference for better or worse. Also pads make a big difference with orthos.
  5. Happy Birthday Naaman! Dude, you've got some small feet!
  6. He just wants you to use Scotch, and not the sparkly Hello Kitty tape.
  7. Awesome!
  8. A giant congrat! I had to sort through and find my biggest one.
  9. Keep us posted Crappy.
  10. Just before his Dad burned him with gasoline, but a while before he started teaching middle school.
  11. To me the ear is the final word, and almost every good active I've heard has impressed me in some way. The Genelec 8040APM has been a favorite two way for some time. If the Airmotiv6 can come close at about half the cost, then I'd be sold. Al's ATC monsters took the concept beyond my imagination, as I've mostly heard two way 6 1/2" active monitors. I also love that you eliminate the speaker cables with active speakers, as I think running longer interconnects vs. longer speaker cables is more favorable. That may just be in my head, but it sure costs less in general.
  12. Well I'd love to see a serious effort from Thiel. And if Magnepan could develop a great ribbon headphone...
  13. As headphone sales exceed speaker sales by a fair margin these days, I look for more speaker companies to set their logs in this fire.
  14. Well I'm going to go against the grain here and say yes to going back to the Dean. Let the Dean decide what is right, since the rules do seem a bit murky at best.
  15. Dan, IMO something magical happens when a company tailors an amp to specific drivers, and does it right. I've been a fan of active speakers for some time. My old Paradigm Reference Active 20s performed at a much higher level than the passive Studio 20 IMO, and that's with respectable amplification (McIntosh I believe). Al's ACT actives are some of the best speakers I've yet heard. The Airmotiv6 is on my short list.
  16. And see I found it slightly offensive. I think Soviet whores is a better term.
  17. OK, I also forgot how cheesy that video is. Almost makes Rick Astley seem butch.
  18. That one took a second, but made me chuckle.
  19. Well you do live in Austin, so that won't even garner a second look.
  20. Thanks Nate, I'll let you know once Marc has settled on what woods he's going to be using. Marc, either threaded rod or a bolt. The bolt head could be recessed into the piece, and that would keep the rod from turning.
  21. Happy Birthday Dan! Have some good beer, and watch some Hockey!
  22. I don't have the right chuck to hold something like that. We may need to sweet talk one of the guys around here with a Nova chuck, or Kevin.
  23. Yay Nate!
  24. Happy Birthday!
  25. And don't forget to check in on Head-Fi to see if you have the veiled version, the bright version, the bass heavy version or the version that only dogs can hear.
