  1. Nice problem solving and methodology, both of you.
  2. ^ Elly May Clampett baked it?
  3. ^ I don't remember posing for that shot? At least you can't see my body. Silver condoms FTMFW!
  4. That is a gorgeous amp! I can proudly say that "I have the same knob as Spritzer". Those knobs were some that Justin sold a while back. I have 3 on my 'Tower of Power', and they're beautiful.
  5. Most toggles I've encountered are a threaded shaft that a retaining nut holds into place. So how would you attach it to the face plate directly, from behind? You could drill and tap a large enough hole for the shaft, but lining the switch up correctly maybe tricky.
  6. Yep, that's how i'd do it too. Nice knobs!
  7. The iD100 is in a different league than the DLO Homedock HD. The iD100 bypasses the iPod's internal DAC, and uses a true digital signal from the iPod. The DLO does not bypass the internal DAC, but instead synthesizes a digital signal from the analog signal. The Nuforce iDo seems to extract the digital signal, but lacks a few things the Cambridge offers. The Cambridge actually docks the iPod/iPad, where the Nuforce connects via a cable. They both sync and charge the iPod/iPad, but I believe only the iD100 has a remote. The iD100 also offers coaxial S/PDIF, Toslink and AES/EBU digital outputs, where the iDo only offers Coaxial S/PDIF. The iDo has a built in headphone amp, but I doubt many of us would use it over our higher quality amps very often. And what's the point if you're sending the digital signal to your DAC anyway? The iD100 offers Component, Composite and S-Video output, where there is no video output from the iDo. There is also an IR input for the iD100, should you choose to enclose it your AV cabinet. The Cambridge does cost $50.00 more than the Nuforce unit, so I guess it's a matter of what features are important to you.
  8. That is a beautiful gun!
  9. I'm very curious to here an M51 and a PerfectWave. I may be catching Dinny's DACses disease.
  10. Just wanted to start a thread about this dock. Not sure how many have use for a product like this, but I did, and someone else may too. I'm very impressed with build quality. The remote is simple and it works well (unlike the Wadia dock). As for the sound...well it's as good as what you put onto your iPod or iPad. I've been very happy, and the unit works better than I had hoped for. To say that I haven't reached for a CD since the dock arrived pretty well sums up my feelings. The one quirk I have noticed is that the dock needs about 2-3 minutes from the initial docking of the iPod/iPad to play well. Before that interim it will have dropouts every few seconds. If you leave your iPod/iPad docked and use the energy saving 'standby' mode between listening sessions, this seems to negate the need for the warm-up time. I plan on taking this to the Austin meet this weekend, and maybe get some more feedback from others. My opinion is that it's a solid little unit, worth the $300.00 asking price. Of coarse most of you don't have a Naaman built Buffalo II, so yours may sound inferior.
  11. I did get caught peeing by a cop once. I was driving from Kenai, AK back to Anchorage. It was about 3:00 in the morning and I was just coming into the municipality limits, but couldn't hold it any longer. Pulled over to a big shoulder/overlook South of town (it's marshland, no homes), and did my business. Next thing I know a cop car is pulling in behind me and a female cop proceeds to tell me about the laws against public urination. I argued a little about the public part considering there wasn't anyone around for miles, and she eventually let me leave with a warning.
  12. Big, huge congrat to Claire, feel better everyone and Shelly the rigs look awesome!

  16. Uhmmm, OK.
  17. That will work great Kevin.
  18. Would you flamers mellow out?
  19. Happy Birthday Nate! Maybe Lily will make you a cake?
  20. Justin wood glue won't work well with the stabilized wood. You'll need something really strong though, maybe a good epoxy.
  21. I was being sarcastic. I've touched them personally. Well not in an Ari way, but I've had my mitts on them. Yes, but if they're the same thickness as the trim pieces, the knob won't be very thick. Say 9/16" or so. Would be cool to alternate similarly thick pieces of Gabon Ebony with the burl. So the face of the knob would be the Aristeus Burl, but the side would be striped.
  22. The Aristaeus has mini wood panels?
  23. You're a hooker?!!! All this time thought you were in graphic arts.
