That handle on top is a standard kitchen cabinet drawer pull. The rack is about 11.5" wide, about 13" tall and just over 10" deep.

To be honest a Bose Wave system is probably just fine for most older folks. It doesn't clutter a tabletop, and most elderly peeps will think it sounds great. Myself, I'd probably pick one of the other "all in one" options, maybe Tivoli, or even Cambridge Soundworks, as the Bose is way over priced.IMO.

It's approaching 50 lbs. I got to use my newish pocket screw jig for all the joinery. I really like pocket screw technology, as you don't have to wait for glue to dry. Ric, I didn't like the pre at all for about 10 minutes, until I figured out that I had the fixed-record outputs hooked up to the amps. Once I hooked the variable outputs up, it actually attenuated the volume. I didn't really need it (until I decided to buy a used Ztuner), but got a great deal on it used. In fact the only piece I purchased new was the Zdac. And the handle just seemed useful, as I can carry it to friends houses pretty easy.

I still need to finish sand, round edges and put a Lacquer finish on the rack, but you can get an idea of what I was attempting. I have some feet coming for the rack as well. They look like they'll match the feet of the Parasound gear pretty well. I was planning on Walnut, until I discovered I had more than enough Cherry. Looks can be deceiving, as this tower of smaller sized gear is damned heavy. These amps are no slouch, and yes I'm running my K1000s from two Zamps in bridged mode. No such thing as overkill. This desktop system powers both of my main speaker sets very well. I know a few are curious about the sound of the new Zdac. Well I'm just starting my listening, but first impressions are very good. Definitely has that Parasound house sound. This is better than I expected a sub $500.00 DAC to sound. Later I'll compare it to my Buffalo 32, but for now I'm just going to enjoy the beautiful, beautiful music.

I understand the job losses, but as far as the Twinkie goes, are we really that sad to see it go? I can certainly live just fine without them. But I do want Nabisco to bring back my fucking Bacon Thins and Twigs. You bastards!

I know this may come as a shock, but it involves some woodworking. I plan on stacking single file, and making a simple wooden rack, as open as possible for good airflow. Not sure when I'll get this completed, hopefully sooner than later. I'll posts some pics then.

Got my shipping notice today for the Zdac, via Audio Advisor. According to them I was #1 on the list. I've apparently been #1 on audio dealer's lists before, because my Mom said many times that I was #1 on the Schiit list. Didn't even know they made audio equipment at the time. Anyway, I've been curious about this DAC for a while, due to it's small size, and my previous taste for the Parasound sound. I've recently amassed a handsome stack of matching Zgear to encompass a tidy little desktop system. This will be my first USB DAC, so I'm a bit excited about the prospects of such a device. Other sources beyond computer audio will be my Cambridge iD100/iPod/iPad and the Parasound Zcd, to spin those shiny Silver discs, old school style. Estimated delivery this Friday.

And use a Buffalo 32 DAC.
