  1. Sourdough changes greatly in it's first 25 years. In Alaska sourdough starter over 50 yrs. old is coveted, and some are over 100 yrs. The differences after 50 yrs. are more subtle, but a new starter compared to a 25 or 50 y.o. starter is no comparison. You will be much happier with as old a starter as you can get your hands on. Fortunately for you, my Mom started her starter the same year I was born, so 53 yrs. now, and I will be happy to donate to your new hobby. Alaskan sourdough is used more for cinnamon rolls, pancakes and such, but also makes fantastic bread. My favorite bread is AK. salt crusted, Rosemary, sourdough. My Aunt uses her starter (from my Mom) to make really good muffins. But my Mom has a sourdough pancake recipe that will make you think your tastebuds turned into clitoris'. Our family has deemed it illegal to use anything but the best grade of true Maple syrup with them, so keep this in mind if you should want the recipe. P.S. While the starters listed in those links are old, it's not the same as a starter that's been in wet form from the beginning. Trust me on this!

Not only do they look good, but because of the 'KEF' style 6 x 9 subwoofer on the back, they supply enough bass for a very satisfying system, sans separate subs. And they're beautifully balanced. Don't be fooled though, these speakers need serious power to open up.

I think I still prefer the look of the original... And they can be had for under $5K.
  4. I will always respond to homophobic diatribe, whether online or in person. But I always try to be calm and non-threatening. Otherwise it's just more fuel for the fire. Sometimes it's hard to stay level headed, but it's essential to get people to stop and listen. Even I have been turned off by militant gays spewing reverse hate.

True to your word. And that looks awesome!
  6. Have a great day buddy! Hope you do something fun!
  7. Well, since my replies to her post, two other Cousins and numerous people I don't know have posted pretty hard criticism about her attitude toward gays. Both of these Cousins I know well, and have spent a lot of time with since living in Texas. They both defended me, not only as a gay person, but as a person in general, and both were pretty harsh toward her prejudice. This makes me feel really good, especially since one of the Cousins is male and very religious himself. I'm proud of his stance!
  8. I don't even know her that well, but it bothers me more than if it was a stranger, not sure why? Dan, I know you're right. Things are changing at a faster pace than I ever imagined. It's my job to see it through, and make it better for the next generation, and I'm happy to do that.
  9. I recently gave Facebook another try. I wanted to be able to keep in touch with friends and relatives I don't see often. I'm thinking I was right to hate Facebook after all. A Cousin of mine posted some trash about gays being an abomination to God. Gotta love having Redneck relatives! I felt it my duty to post another viewpoint, but I was tactful, reasonable and polite. She posted "Why are you shitting on my post?" I posted "Why are you shitting on my life?" Her..."WTF are you talking about?" Me..."I'm gay! It's no secret!!!" "You post the voice of hatred, and I'll post the voice of reason. Say hello to your Mom for me." Fucking uneducated bigots!
  10. Happy Birthday Raffy! How about some new running shoes?
  11. This, most definitely!!!

Holy crap! Sonus Faber has a new 30 year edition of my favorite speaker...The Extrema. Not sure I like the looks as much as the original, but the Extrema has always been my favorite speaker.
  13. Thanks. He's a nurse.
  14. Went on a date tonight. First real date in 13 years (booty calls withstanding). Went well I think.
  15. Happy Birthday! 321 is certainly a milestone, what's your secret?
  16. Insert gay joke of choice here.
  17. Brent, I know that you said "if I'm going to be important, then I'm going to look important", but that's not what your doctor said...He said you were "impotent", not "important"!
  18. Happy Birthday!

Would have been fun though. If you make it to South Texas give me a ring. And I'm still a bay area-er, just a different bay. (Corpus Christi Bay). Just a tad bit less sophisticated and forward thinking, but still technically a bay area.
  20. Tortilla chips and fresh made guacamole.
  21. R.I.P. Giger. As to that specific piece... The single condom really makes a statement, though not quite sure what the statement was meant to be.

    Happy Birthday Justin.
  24. I use that same shop-vac for small jobs, like emptying out toilet tanks and bowls. It'll work great, won't take up a lot of space, and you'll find other uses for it. As for pan cleaning tips...You can buy large bleach pellets (hockey puck size) at pool supply stores. Put one in the pan and it'll usually last all season.
  25. Red Oxx, Tom Bihn, pftttt! My bags are made from Rwandan, barrel dyed, preteen scrotum.
