  1. So, I just learned of the Pure Audio Project Heil AMT open baffle speaker. https://pureaudioproject.com/shop/ The Trio 10 with Heil AMT. A true dipole/open baffle design.
  2. Al and I are building some bookcases for his Sister, from White Oak. Our glue up panels are just two 1" x 6" boards, so pretty simple. However, even using dominoes, there are always little fluctuations that need sanded flush. But working in Al's shop is always nicer than the equipment I've had currently or in the past. This is a twin barrel drum sander. 80 Grit on the first drum, 120 on the second. This is automation at it's finest.

  4. Have an incredible day!
  5. Mushroom and cheese omelet with fried potatoes.
  6. There are people on this forum who I believe could design such a speaker. I probably shouldn't name names, but one chose a certain pipe tobacco as his name here. 😊 Building the speakers once someone much smarter than myself designs it, would be the fun part for me. My monitors that Marc designed are absolutely brilliant. I would still want the AMT unit atop the speaker in a dipole fashion.
  7. Don't mistake me though. I personally have no issue with machine cut dovetails. I have made them, I like them, I don't think of them as a cheap shortcut. I have a lot of respect for the guys that are proficient with hand tools. Sometimes I find hand tools to be the quicker method, and that's when I generally use them. But I embrace power tools. I do want to be involved in the actual creation process, so I'd be more likely to use a CNC to cut templates, that I would then use to make forming the actual piece easier.
  8. Sorry Doug. I thought we were talking about the OMA Monitor. Those dovetails on the amp certainly do appear hand cut.
  9. Well, those dovetails are machine made, so no real expertise needed.
  10. ^?
  11. I wonder how the OMA speaker would sound, because it appears that they enclosed the AMT unit. And I thought some of it's magic was due to it's dipole design.
  12. I really want to hear those OMA monitors as well, and for good reason... In the mid 80's I bought a pair of ESS AMT 1D speakers. Those speakers had the Heil Air Motion Transformer tweeter/midrange units. They are the best top end/midrange I've yet heard. The issue was the bass. It was a bit wooly and loose. I've always wanted someone to design a speaker using those AMTs, but with a better low end.
  13. I had to dream somewhat reasonably, because my harem of twinks is going to cost a fortune to maintain.
  14. Love the OMA stuff! Almost went to work for his Brother when I stayed at Al's back in 2013. He has a woodworking shop in Oakland.
  15. Back when I read all the audio mags, Sonus Faber released the Extrema in 1991, and that's the speaker I lusted after for years.
  16. He's gotta be up there.
  17. This is vaguely familiar. I may have started this back in 2020, but didn't get far. It's based on a Steven King story.
  18. Have you seen me lately? I'm my own room treatment!
  19. I try and try to make this forum a more serious place, and all you people do is mock me!
  20. Yes, there are two for now.
