Vlad's blue BH was indeed quite nice. I was also pleasantly surprised by the performance of the PCM1794A DAC he was using as a source.

Great meet. It was truly a pleasure to listen to Justin's astounding creations. Nice photos VPI! Oh unfortunately I didn't get a chance to personally greet you! I think by the time you got back with Justin's lunch I was caught up in getting one last listen to the BHSE before having to leave.

Just want to note that the Playback Designs MPD-5 is also much more expensive than the other DACs Dusty pointed to ($13,000 retail). (The MPS-5 is $15,000 retail).

Looks like the MSRP is $3099 http://www.stereophile.com/content/electrocompaniet-ecd-2-dac A lot of people seem to be fans of the ECD-1 so I was looking around the net for some impressions or thoughts on the new machine a few days ago; unfortunately I haven't found much yet.

I, too, have had a number of hard drives shipped to me in that fashion from Newegg. I haven't ordered a hard drive from them in the last year however, so I don't know how they package drives now. I've since then bought all my hard drives from Amazon (direct from Amazon; not 3rd party). They've provided solid packaging in my experience. As a side note, I've noticed Amazon's prices for hard drives fluctuate (sometimes significantly) throughout the week and even during the day. A few days ago the 3TB Reds were being sold for $150 direct from Amazon. I checked earlier today and an Amazon affiliate were selling for $160 but it seemed like there was no option to buy directly from Amazon. Now they're in stock again but priced at $163.

Something changed on YouTube's end. If you look at for example: The HTML source embed code for YouTube files here on Head-Case, is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=aTLySbGoMX0?version=3 Indeed, all the embedded YouTube videos on Head-Case follow that format. If you try to go that link directly on a desktop computer, everything is fine. If you try to go that link directly on an iOS device, you will get redirected but then the connection will fail. If you look at http://apiblog.youtube.com/2010/07/new-way-to-embed-youtube-videos.html you will see that the correct embed code uses the format (since 2010): http://www.youtube.com/embed/aTLySbGoMX0 Indeed, if you try to go that link on an iOS device, it works perfectly. So what has changed is YouTube enforcing the correct embed codes. (It seems Head-Case's forum software has been using the wrong embed code)

Soundflower is available for free by itself so archos might be able to try using Quicktime screen recording with Soundflower first to see how it is. (Soundflower basically lets you route your audio out to your audio in) http://cycling74.com/soundflower-landing-page/products/soundflower/ Open source page at Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/soundflower/

Nice! GT-R is great in my opinion as well. It was a tremendous bargain for the performance when it first arrived in 2008 at a MSRP of $69,850. It's somewhat unfortunate that the a new GT-R is now $99,950 ($30k higher!). For those who want new, it's not as much of a deal as it was before but the performance per dollar is still respectable. A used GT-R is a great though!

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/technology/2013/02/economics-netflixs-100-million-new-show/61692/ Saw this Atlantic Wire article earlier, which briefly goes over some of the numbers behind Netflix creating their own show. ~$100 million for 26 episodes (2 seasons) but potentially worth the cost.

I remember using Quicktime Player's Screen Recording feature while I was still on Snow Leopard, so I think there should be no problems. (In Quicktime, File -> New Screen Recording; options can be selected by pressing the down arrow on the right side of the black interface)

The T1 is a great value in my opinion. I bought both of mine for between $500 and $600. I'll most likely be picking one up again in a few months.

I want to hear a Pico one day.

I would not drive behind such a van.

My belly has officially been pounded. On another note... Tuesday seems so far away. I'm shivering with excitement. I hope I don't explode before then. Your belly pounding didn't help.

I did.

I am interested in budget. I await your posts with excitement.

I had some great expectations for electrostats and arrived at an even larger difference than I had expected. It's important to take note that each electrostat sounds different just like each dynamic sounds different.
-
The Lambda Pro didn't convinced me. The Lambda Signature certainly has. Gigantic improvement. I haven't used a dynamic headphone in over two months.

My experience with the GS1000 was quite unpleasant.
