  1. I've been enjoying the DAC, but I agree with some other people about it not being ideal for IEMs. Sounds pretty good with HF2s, but I need to get the tape deck out to *really* stress it **BRENT**
  2. Purk, you're finally embracing my philosophy on meets. Well played Oh, I left something out in my sleep deprived postings. Really had a blast finding a fellow yoyo enthusiast in the hobby. TomB had a couple throws I'd never tried and we got to throw together. I think we generated a little interest in yet another hobby of ours. *"BRENT**
  3. I know this dude! I walked in and saw Tyll with John, the organizer of this event, and I get greeted with a big hug and a "guess what I had for breakfast today. Biscuits and gravy!" Totally looks better than the silver one. You guys are crazy re: silver enthusiasts. The mystical and magical Ingwe!!! (Also, my hair was wrecked after 2 hours of driving with a window down, and then headphones on and off all day; perhaps I should move to the Ingwean/Namaanian model of hairstyles.) Brazillian steakhouse for dinner? Don't mind if I do. With Justin, Purk, and Matt. These been ribs were just stupidly good. Chris was very happy when he found out I was eating about 3 pounds of protein. Server: "Lamb?" Me: "Of course." Sun In My Belly I met up with an old friend to go out for brunch after Justin and I parted ways this afternoon. It turns out he wound up at the same place, but ate outside. We found this out when I posted on FB, and he said he'd just left after Jasmin and I had gone off couch shopping. I love shopping. Kirkwood Breakfast Softly scrambled eggs with herbed boursin cheese, honey glazed bacon, buttermilk biscuit, house made strawberry jam. I didn't think it looked that great, but it was SO good. Jasmin recommended going "bacon egg biscuit" with it, and it was totally the right call. The cheesy eggs just killed it with the biscuit, and the bacon is actually folded over in the pic below, and was actually wide enough for a partial strip to cover most of the biscuit. Mmmm... mimosas that you have to build yourself. I wound up killing the OJ, as we just used a "splash" in each glass. , Also, there were some headphones, IIRC. BHSE killed it, per usual, on the stat side. I listened to the HE-1000 out of the GS-X Mk 2 finally. Probably the best Ortho I've heard. Easily worth 500$. I'm sure it's several multiples of that, but not sure it'd be what I'd turn to. On the dynamic side, ECP Audio made a combination that made me like HD800s (plural, not model name.) That's only happened once before, with a Denon TT out of Matt/NWT's MPX3. If I didn't hate how the HD800 looked, and had an unlimited budget, and already had a BHSE + Stax setup, I'd give Doug a bunch of cash, and a voucher for a nice steak dinner. I didn't listen to everything like some people did, but there was a ton of stuff there, and for the people still on the hunt for something new/different, I think it was a great event. Enjoyed seeing everyone and hope we get to do it again next year. **BRENT**
  4. Go take a nap, I'm going to be heading up in about half an hour. **BRENT**
  5. Thanks, guys. I feel for his wife and kid. My dad was about Sam's age when he died, and I watched my mom go through losing a "soulmate" and I went through what it was like losing a father way too young. Still really bummed about this. **BRENT**
  6. This is one of the few helmets that fits my head. Unfortunately, they don't have the XL version for sale. It is a nice helmet, though. I almost bought one locally earlier this year. **BRENT**
  7. Purk, should just bring what Senn won't **BRENT**

  9. So I just got word that my friend Sam at work died at a conference in Orlando over the night. I've known him about 3 years, starting with my first Tour de Cure here. I just talked to him last week; he'd been training to do the half Ironman in Chattanooga this weekend, after doing his first one last year. He leaves behind a daughter who just graduated college and a wife. He was early-mid 40s. I found out about half an hour ago, and still in shock. Fuck this year. **BRENT**
  10. Should get Stupid Colin to pick it up. **BRENT**
  11. Let's make this happen! **BRENT**
  12. Nice! Dibs! (I need one for my 002s ) **BRENT**
  13. Hey guys, it's getting close! I'm excited. So the d-_-b contingent is as follows; please add or correct if wrong: Tyll Tkam Justin Doug Purk Fitz? Your Friendly Neighborhood Mexican @screaming oranges still needs to figure out what an airplane is so he can make it. Did I miss anyone? **BRENT**
  14. Out for a ride with Xavier at the Chickamauga Battlefield. Strava was lacking a section where I forgot to unpause, and we had some sightseeing time. Xavier's didn't autostart at one point, but together I bet we have the full ride Check out my 15.6 mi Ride on Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/576243118 **BRENT**
  15. I blew off my daughter's first soccer game for DanJam. I got to introduce Fitz to Laphroig, met everyone but Fitz for the first time, lost my wedding ring in the ocean, and was denied every fucking biscuit in town. My daughter hasn't played soccer since 2010, and I still talk to most of you bastards. Kids can deal, d-_-b is forever (unless Todd kills the server, then, well...) **BRENT**
  16. 6 Years ago today there was another meet in Atlanta. Here is a 7 year old Zoë rocking out to my HP-1s with 4 year old Xavier hanging out. Slightly scarier, our old pal Ingwe. Lots of good memories; can't wait to make some more! **BRENT**
  17. Took Xavier to a charity home run competition at the Lookouts' ballpark. Ryan Klesko is up soon to show 'em how it's done. **BRENT**
  18. CJ, I know some people who use the Lemond setup for saddle height. Grab a book, or a level if you have it, and then put that up to the groin area with about the firmness you'd feel sitting on the bike. Take this measurement (inseam) and multiply by .883. This should give you the approximate seat height from the center of the crank arm spindle (bottom bracket) to the top of the seat, measures along the angle of the seat post. It may seem a little high, but you've probably been riding too low for most of your life (most people have.) If you don't have a stand, try hanging the bike by the front of the seat over a sturdy tree limb. Not ideal, but you should be OK for some light tinkering. Does it look as good in person as it did online? **BRENT**
  19. Pix or it didn't happen. **BRENT**
  20. So Specialized is running a May offer at their LBSes. BOGO Free on the tires below. Those S-Works Turbos in 26c for 55$ seems like a great deal for a pair; or maybe a fat All Condition Armadillo Elite for the tough-on-tires crowd for the same 55$. Espoir Elite are 35$ for 2; Roubaix Pro for 40$ for 2. **BRENT**
  21. He's probably grown 6 inches since we got it... in February. It was an HDR shot so the legs are going to be off. Chris, what do you think about fitment? The height range for this bike goes up to 5', and he's still a bit under that. We tried out some stuff and the 650c/26x1 inch bikes were what fit best. It has a crazy short stem, and it's probably a bit more upright, but he feels comfortable on it. I'm wondering if the crank arms are a little long, though. **BRENT**
  22. Nice, CJ! Hate that it's an issue but that's quicker than the original ETA, no?
  23. Went to a Minor League AA baseball game. Zoë was awarded an academic thing along with kids from other schools, where she took a lap around the ballpark. Her mom dropped her off and Xavier and I stayed for the game and had a blast. It was our first baseball game together, and pretty sure we made some awesome memories tonight. Xavier is the age I was when I lost my dad, and want to make sure we have as much quality time together as we can. Slight seat upgrade. We also had quite the dinner tasting menu over the course of 5 hours, including ballpark hotdog, pulled chicken nachos, Mexican rice, and some sliders. Amazing night sharing a game I've loved with my son. **BRENT**
  24. Heh. Woulda been here sooner, but our Uber driver almost got pulled over as she was picking us up, for running 2 red lights. We could've gotten another, but figured we should make Xavier's first Uber an experience. **BRENT**
